In a magnificent converted building, Malmaison Leeds serves sumptuous modern British cuisine. The Chez Mal Bar & Brasserie is a superb addition, with rustic exposed brick offset by neon and filament light bulbs, giving the restaurant a relaxed, modern atmosphere.

Serving modern reinventions of classic local cuisine, the Malmaison menu is committed to sourcing the best produce in the region. Sophisticated yet accessible, a beautifully presented a la carte selection foregrounds bold, wholesome flavours. Tasty vegetarian options and succulent fish dishes are served, as well as sublime New York strip steak cuts.

For a relaxed tone, diners can head to the sleek bar at the Malmaison restaurant. Subdued and atmospheric, a cosmopolitan selection of cocktails showcases signature creations from the Mal mixologists, alongside a well-balanced range of world wines.

Sleek yet rustic, The Brasserie at theLeeds Mal offers warm wood panelling and squashy chocolate leather seating. Leeds Rail Station is just 7 minutes’ walk away.

Overall lovely experience, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and the afternoon tea was delicious!
The only downside was that I cancelled my initial booking of 4 people and rebooked for 5 people however they did not get this new booking. Luckily they were able to accomodate

To be honest, we were quite underwhelmed with our experience. Don't get me wrong, the food was pleasant enough and tasted ok and the service was good. We felt the dining room was very dark and dingy and the food overall was average - not what you would expect from Malmason.

Our first visit. We were stopping in Leed with friends and chose the venue from the online ratings and convenience of location.
First impression was that it was too dark and tables were too close together. However that was the last negative - the dining experience was all positive.
The menu was interesting - best defined as British with European influence - and we all selected different starters; crab, scallops, heritage beetroot with feta and carpaccio of tuna. All were well presented and greatly enjoyed - though you could easily see the huge profit margin on content since portions were modest. The fresh bread was excellent.
For mains it was 2 X pork- "fabulous"; one sea bass - "perfectly cooked" ; and one X half chicken "great taste".
The wait staff were very well turned out and the two floor managers were both very good and understood both their food and wine so delivering a professional standard.
With aperitifs, two courses, 2 good bottles of wine and coffee the bill was just below £250 for 4 (inc service) which seemed good value for the quality of food, drink and experience.
    Definitely deserving of recommendation.
