The restaurant really does look the part, very nice. The meal was OK with the house red wine being especially good, the service was outstanding. Overall a good start to the evening - well done!

Disappointed in menu selection as the fillet steak was not available - had run out on a Saturday evening at 8 30 pm. The steal we did have was served very quickly and was tough and grizzly. Service was very good. A lovely storing but meal overall was disappointing.

Beautiful building, most disappointing meal we have had. Slow service, all 4 steaks were cold. When we complained we were not offered any discount from the bill and only after speaking with the manager were we offered anything -but that involves a return visit which none of the 4 of us are inclined to do

    Slightly disappointed by the food.
The staff were all lovely and accommodating.
Starters: Scallops - well cooked. Purée slightly runny. Lardons too chewy.
Tempura Prawn and Calamari -Delicious best dish.
Mains: New York Strip - Steak wasn't rested before serving but otherwise tasty. Sides Mash gorgeous. Green beans and feta - disgusting. Oily and not nice would not recommend the beans were served in a dish floating in cheese fat.
Lobster Risotto - lobster cooked to perfection. risotto too over powered with Parmesan. I like heavily loaded Parmesan on meals but this was just too much making it difficult to eat more than a third of the dish.
Dessert: Panna Cota. Delicious well presented.
Torte- which was more of a tart. The pastry base was too thick and heavy. Chocolate bitter and tasty. The passion fruit jus sour and the ice cream sweet. Without the pastry the flavours balanced when all eaten at once. However a bite without the ice cream was very very bitter and sour. The ice cream marries this dish.

Overall good and bad points. We've eaten in many high class establishments and starred restaurants. I guess we might have expected too much?
I certainly expected a quality meal Unfortunately we walked away disappointed. Mal Maison lacked finesse and certain attention to detail.

Our initial server Jamie was a credit to the establishment. Attentative and approachable.

I don't think the meal was worthy of the price tag.

The set menu for lunch has enough choice to please everyone and yet still has a modern twist to the cuisine. We had a very pleasurable Saturday lunch. Really enjoyed the prosecco too.
