The afternoon tea was excellent. We also enjoyed the fact that we were not rushed and could sit, chat and eat in our own time.

The restaurant was really nice with lovely decor. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, they even gave my sister a lovely extra dessert as we went for her birthday. The food was amazing couldn't fault it, it was freshly made. My first afternoon experience was brilliant.

Went at 12.30 yesterday 30 June. Restaurant quiet, we were the only ones in there to start with. Lovely waitress, very attentive. I had pork terrine to start, followed by Bang Bang chicken and the spring(!) taster sweets. My husband had vegetable soup, trout and peach crumble. All the food was tasty and well presented. The only disappointment was when my husband ordered his sweet we were told by the waitress that it could take 10-15 minutes as it was cooked in the oven. After 30 minutes we asked the maitre de if she could chase it. She disappeared into the kitchen but did not return to give us an update. After another 5 mins we called her over again and she said the chef had said another 5 minutes, so 40 mins after we ordered it was finally delivered. We felt this was an excessive time to wait for dessert and because of this we refused to pay the discretionary 10% service charge. It was a real shame that this marred what should have been a very pleasant lunch.

I booked the set menu for 5.30 intending on visiting a concert afterwards. The starter was good but main meal poor, small portion and tasteless, sides were an extra £4 each and not good value. Half lager £3.50, service so slow we had to cancel dessert. Staff very pleasant but appearred inexperienced.
