The food is delicious!! Would love to try tea latte again, the food/cake is soft and so fresh! Made us girlies wanting for the seconds! Watch out that slice of cake!!! Yumm!
The decoration layout isn't what I expect, I expect more of madd hatter tea party table, but it's not. Really not much of decoration around the room/tables. Pretty plain, I wasn't sure if I am in right place, until saw the menu on the wall. There are some pretty decorate on window also some tree in the middle of room, I feel it could do bit of more.
We booked for 1pm on Sunday, its become crowd around the cafe as the cafe is via theatre… So many people start to queue for drink or getting in theatre, bumping each other while we sat on the chair, felt uncomfortable, we got chairs, what we would love to sit on the sofa! But never mind. The staff is absolutely lovely and very friendly!

We had a wonderful dining experience at MADD Hatter's cafe! It is actually inside of the Arts Theatre. We went for the Alice in Wonderland theme and for a quirky tea while I had a friend visiting from the US. The Alice theme was a bit thin, except for the decorations in the window, to be honest, but that is about the only negative thing I have to say. The Tey Lattes were fantastic. The selection savory bites were all delicious - smoked salmon, feta and sun dried tomato, etc. We selected 2 different slices of cake - lemon and GF Orange polenta cake with cream cheese frosting. Both were excellent, but the orange cake was divine. There was also a macaroon, a brownie bite and a chocolate covered marshmallow. All for £14! A great deal. You could go to a fancier tea and for about £30 more, you'd get a scone, plus everything we had.

Afternoon tea was brilliant. We went all out and opted for the Ace of Spades so we got lovely little canepés (I particularly liked the falafel and mini toasted cheese and ham sandwiches), then you can pick a 'cake of the day' and they all looked great so it's hard to pick just one! You also get a gingerbread truffle and brownie macarons. The gingerbread hug tey latte is delicious and my new favourite drink. The staff were all really friendly and were happy to give recommendations. It was really quiet but they let us enjoy our afternoon tea and didn't keep coming over and bothering us like happens in other places when it's quiet.

Small cafe, but the tea was PERFECT for lunch! Dessert and canapes were delish.

I was quite disappointed with our visit. The savoury dishes, if you can call them dishes! 2 sandwiches divided into 8 very small triangles! - there were 4 of us dining!!!! Then 2 each of something with a shrimp on top which left a discusting taste in the mouth - these were no bigger than my thumb nail! The desserts were quite yummy but that was the only thing worth having!!!

The atmosphere was very playful since this restaurant is in the theatre district of London. I loved the choice of Afternoon tea dessert as well, I chose the banana Nutella cupcake and it was lovely. The tea was also great, I got iced tea and it was just the right amount of sweet for my taste. Overall a great experience and it was on the cheaper side when it comes to afternoon tea in the city.

Firstly, I'd like to express my thanks to the fantastic waitress who was the ONLY staff for the cafe who was serving over 25 guests alone. She was very apologetic about the situation, but it was understandable - the cafe should get more staff!! As for the food and drink it was excellent, Oreo cake was amazing! And the savoury bites were also delicious. The drinks were very tasty and since I had my younger sister with me, the waitress was very accomadating to suggest her a drink without coffee in. We enjoyed the Queen of Hearts Afternoon Tea and would go back again!
It was in a great central location and easy to find. However, the music was a little calm for the vibe, perhaps changing up the music would liven the atmosphere, as many customers were awkwardly speaking quietly.

Absolutely wonderful. Lovely bites and indulgent choice of cakes. Would definitely return.

Overall, it was quite a poor experience in terms of service and first impressions. We arrived and our table was not ready despite having had several email exchanges with the staff prior to the booking. It was a booking for afternoon tea and it was for a friend's birthday. Another reason we chose this place was because of the Alice in Wonderland element but to be honest that part is minimal and quite disappointing as decor is very poor and limited in terms of having any relation to the Madd Hatter at all!

Staff did not seem interested in serving us initially and we had to keep on going to the counter to get their attention. They were busy in the corner having their own conversations and looking very unprofessional. Nothing was explained clearly. Menus for the savoury canapes are awful - incorrect information (which meant that as a vegetarian I ended up with meat on my dish even though I had made it clear I was vegetarian). A friend of mine also pointed out to the lady that there were flies around some of the cakes and there was nothing to cover them and she just responded with a blank look.
The one nice thing was that the lady put a candle on the cake for my friend but that was not enough to make it an overall good experience.

So much room for improvement and it could actually be a good experience if these details were looked after. So no I wouldn't recommend this place for a special occasion. However, if you're just looking for some nice tea and some cake with very mediocre (if that) service then go ahead!
