Good food, good service and very conveniently located venue. Staff is friendly and "tacos campechanos" are delicious, apart from pastor tacos. Churros is a must for dessert.

Offering some of London's most authentic Mexican dining, Lupita Central is inspired by a single charcoal grill taquería, which has drawn hordes of diners from all over Mexico since it opened in 1962. Enjoy views of South American delicacies being rustled up in the island open kitchen, which sizzles with the sound of chefs at work.

The bright, funky décor is as vibrant as the Lupita menu, which offers everything from tacos, tostadas and enchiladas to salads, soups and totopos. The sharing platters are bursting with selections of their finest, with veggie and seafood options, while the tempting quesadillas are full of surprises, including Nopales cactus and Huitlacoche Mexican truffle.

Indulge in tacos loaded with exciting fillings in one of London's most popular Mexican restaurants. Try Pastor, pork fillets and bacon marinated in Lupita’s special blend of herbs and fruits, or the protein-packed Gobernador with shrimps, cheese and chipotle sauce, then wash it all down with one of Lupita’s much-loved margaritas, made using the best Agave Tequila.

Lupita in London’s extensive drinks list also boasts some of Mexico’s hard-to-find beers, including Pacifico, Modelo Especial & Negra Modelo, as well as a variety of South American and Spanish wines. Charing Cross Tube Station is a minute’s walk away.

It was well located and a pleasant environment to eat in. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food however was not that brilliant and it was far far to expensive.

I was really disappointed by the food. The guacamole was good, but the ceviche was stodgy, the nachos and the chicken in the tacos was flavourless. The service was ok but slow in patches. I wI probably wouldn't go back.

Been coming to Lupita for a couple of years and sadly food now seems to be slipping with tacos being overly greasy and freshness of before not there as much. Same good Mexican tastes but quality seems to have dropped while prices have gone up. Guess that eventually happens with a lot of places as they become established.. Service is still lovely.

We had a great time on our first visit but this was our second time and it was not so good. Firstly we wanted more tortilla chips for the guacamole and they would not even let us pay for more. There were a lot of us and we spent £400 so I think they could have let us pay for more. That was annoying. Then my son got a very bad stomach upset which can only have been caused by the food there. So we will not be going back.

Great location. Restaurant has a casual feel (customers encouraged to come in, eat quickly, then leave - the table next to us was turned over three times while we were there from 7.30 to 10.30). Floor manager not especially helpful - we asked to move from a cold and drafty table by the fire escape to a different unreserved table, and were made to just stand there and wait for about 5 mins while he, literally, stood there and thought about it - perhaps he was waiting for some kind of financial incentive?? Drinks great, although expect to wait for cocktails made to order, at least 10 minutes, sometimes more. Food looked really promising but unless you're ordering the massive burrito, expect small portions - think tapas, even though the prices would suggest that you're ordering a main course. The whole "making of the guacamole at your table" looks impressive, but the end result was pretty flavourless - disappointing considering it is nearly £11. We ordered a selection of mains and shared them, and nothing really stood out as being exceptional or particularly tasty. We asked for spicy food, but it was mild. Not much choice of dessert, but the churros were delicious. They leave a block on your table on which you can press buttons to get a waiter, or your bill - the button triggers a vibrating watching on their arm. When pressing the bill button, the cashier made a huge deal of coming over, taking off his watch, and showing us what it did, as if we had electrocuted him - unnecessary. If your staff aren't happy with the system, don't use it. Then they will add the service charge to your bill at what I think was 12.5% but obviously it is optional.

To sum up, this place only needs to make a few changes to be exceptional - more flavoursome dishes, and more amenable, friendly, staff, particularly the floor manager. For now, it's like a low-rate Mexican version of La Tasca.

Always good food but the drinks are very expensive. We didn't quite realise the jugs of margarita were £38 a go (and mostly ice in the jug). Otherwise it was good
