Sitting in an enviable setting right on the Strand, Lounge Bar Strand Palace Hotel treats diners to elegance and British tradition for its famed afternoon teas.

The varied compositions of the afternoon teas on the Lounge Bar menu offer eclectic choice for diners, while still retaining the traditions that have made British afternoon tea such an institution. Delicate fingers sandwiches can be filled with options like premium thinly sliced salmon, while the cakes are served alongside moist raisin scones with clotted cream and jam. A special champagne afternoon tea brings an indulgent kick to proceedings, with a carefully selected bottle being served with English teacakes and other treats.

In addition to the afternoon teas, Lounge Bar Strand Palace Hotel London also offers a selection of light meals, including tapas-style sharing platters of meatballs in spicy tomato sauce, and classic tomato brushchetta. There are also heartier options for larger appetites.

Lounge Bar Strand Palace Hotel is surrounded by local theatres, and sits moments from Charing Cross Station and Covent Garden.

it was horrible. The interiors and furniture were completely worn down. There were no outside views or natural sunlight. It felt like the waiting room of a poorly subsidised NHS GP's practice. I cannot stress how uncomfortable and unpleasant this "lounge" is. Furthermore it was filled with children, running around an screaming at the top of their lungs. At least the service was good, the waiters were trying to their best to be as proactive as possible.
The quality of food however was below standard of what you would expect from a London afternoon tea service.

We enjoyed everything about the experience, staff are excepionally friendly and warming from the minute we arrived until we left. They catered for my wife by providing just the sandwiches she liked from the menu, we were sat in a nice individual booth which was great as it was for my wifes 60th birthday and this made it extra special on the day.

Very friendly and prompt service. I was there for afternoon tea and was made to feel very relaxed and did not feel rushed to finish dining.
All parts of the menu were delicious. Would highly recommend The Strand Palace for afternoon tea. Later in the day my party and I returned and had a drink in the Gin Palace next to the Lounge Bar. This was also very good.

Very accommodating. We were placed in the Gin room because there was no space in the lounge bar.

Myself and four of my friends enjoyed afternoon tea at the Strand Palace Hotel. We were given a warm welcome by our waitress and she was happy for us to change our table so that we could sit on the circular sofa's even though it meant she had alter the dining arrangements. She was very attentive to all our needs and served us sensitively, not interrupting our conversation in any way but supplying us with as many pots of tea as we wanted. The standard of the food was very good with lots of beautiful little cakes and two scones each. Maybe the only disappointment was the lack of taste in a couple of the finger sandwiches. There was so much food that we asked if we could take home the cakes left over and they supplied us with five boxes individually wrapped with ribbon. It was a lovely touch. At no point were we rushed and they seemed happy for us to stay and chat as long as we wanted which was great as we only get to see each other twice a year as we come from all over the country. I would recommend this venue to anybody else who requires a nice relaxing afternoon tea.

Excellent selection for afternoon tea - good value and box to take what we couldn't manage to eat!

I arranged this afternoon tea to spend time with 2 girlfriends getting together after 15 years. One was visiting from New Zealand. I chose this hotel, which I have stayed at and brought friends to tea before, because I enjoy the setting. It is relaxed and informal whilst the tea is amazing and also good value.
We had a lovely afternoon and the staff kindly boxed up the surplus cakes to take home. Thank you!

The staff were most welcoming and very accommodating, especially as we had our 4 year-old grand-daughter with us. It was her birthday and she was delighted with the special "cake" complete with candle which arrived as a surprise for her -- a lovely touch. We adults enjoyed our tea -- but would have enjoyed more and a wider selection of sandwiches and perhaps slight fewer cakes/ pastries. However it was excellent value for money and a very good experience. Thank you to everyone.
