The chef combines elements of classic cuisine, with the natural flavours of common and lesser known ingredients. Away from heavy, cloying sauces, the lightness of the dishes dominates in Lotus Roots. Exclusively fresh and healthy fine ingredients are used for the Californian-Asian creations. A wide range of international, and especially Californian wines, complements the 9 daily-fresh dishes of the Lotus Root menu.

    An undoubtedly very gifted Chef, Jan VERHELST delivers stunning dishes, brought to the table as little paintings, which often are excursions into taste territory unknown. His inspiration comes from his thorough Belgian culinary training, enhanced by his international experience (California), which has allowed him to use what our World brings as far as ingredients is concerned. In the multiple courses, the number of which you choose, a true symphony of World tastes prevails. In addition, it helps that the Chef uses his creativity without sacrificing an essential aspect of dining: that you still fully recognise what is on your plate. Located in the little town of Eke-Nazareth, it is surely more than worth the 20 minute trip by car/taxi from Ghent city centre, if you have an interest in foodie culture.
