The London Carriage Works in Liverpool serves modern British food that has seen it awarded 2 AA Rosettes. Occupying a Victorian site from which it takes its name, the restaurant is now a contemporary space with wooden flooring, stone walls and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Brimming with local produce, The London Carriage Works menu is low on food miles but packed with flavour. Discover roast breast of duck with celeriac, vanilla, black cherry and dark chocolate, or the imaginative textures of celeriac and chestnuts with winter greens and chestnut velouté. Finish with a rich dessert or the selection of artisan British cheeses with relish and fruitcake.

Afternoon tea at London Carriage Works is an indulgent affair. Joining speciality teas are classic sandwiches, freshly baked cakes and warm scones with fresh berries, clotted cream and preserves. The addition of prosecco or champagne provides further indulgence.

The London Carriage Works sits in the centre of the city just 10 minutes’ walk from Liverpool Central Train Station.

the London carriage Works is a really nice restaurant to which you can dress up or down. Great service from friendly, helpful staff and lovely food. Great proximity if going to the Philharmonic Hall (literally over the road).

If your looking for a fine dining experience with someone special then look no further.

A well situated and designed restaurant with an attention to detail.

We dined from the evening A La Carte Menu and there was a wide variety of choice to suit all tastes.

The service was excellent, very well mannered waiter's who were welcoming and very helpful.

We had a lovely romantic evening and will be sure to return.

    Thank you.

firstly, after walking in and saying my name to the waitress on the counter I was shocked and embarrassed when she told me infront of my girlfriend and a very busy bar area that my reservation was not there, after showing her my confirmation and saying I booked it 4 weeks prior she told me not to worry as she was going to 'try her best' to seat us as my reservation was not there. Secondly I booked a table for the a la carte evening menu so was disappointed to be given a menu for Sunday roasts, not a big problem to me but seeing as my girlfriend is from Poland they don't really do Sunday roasts over there so she had to order the salmon which she wasn't keen on in the first place but it was the only thing she liked. I looked around and seen everyone eating roasts so thought nothing of it. I was angry to see 6 tables seated after me be given the choice of both menus including the menu I booked the table for and had already decided what we were going to eat from. I enjoyed my food, not so much her but we both agreed we were disappointed not to be given the a la carte menu as that's what we wanted to order from, we came 120 miles for fine dining not a posh carvery. Staff were very friendly though throughout meal. i was also annoyed to receive an email during the meal with a confirmation for me cancelling my reservation. Obviously a system error.

Can't fault the decor/location/service. However had to reschedule and was told no availability after 545 until 915. So we had to plump for the 545 slot. We stayed until 830pm and the restaurant was at best 2/3 full but mainly pretty empty. You lose 1.5 points for that.

Food wise all of us struggled to find a starter or main we craved. All pretty much make do. The steaks several of us had, cooked to varying preferences, were pretty bland as were the chips - really soggy and not nice. We really wanted to love this place but it was very much style over substance and we felt let down.

    Sort your menu out.
