Very good food and service. We shared the seafood platter between 4 of us as a starter and that was perfect. Two of us had sea bass and two of us had venison. Both very good.

A stylish bistro in the heart of the town, Loch & Quay Christchurch is committed to local produce. The menu of sharing platters, fresh fish favourites and hearty grill dishes is served in the restaurant’s bright, laidback dining area.

By day, the Loch & Quay menu offers classic brunch dishes, wraps and sharing boards, alongside the likes of goats’ cheese and beetroot tart and beer-battered fish and chips. Come the evening, discover venison steak with rosemary dauphinoise, grilled lemon thyme salmon with seafood risotto and sweet chilli dressing, or slow-braised lamb shanks served with minted mashed potatoes, chickpeas and yoghurt cucumber dip. From the grill, try the homemade beef burger in a brioche bun, or the lemon and herb-marinated rump steak with hand-cut triple-cooked chips and garlic-roasted flat mushrooms topped with parmesan.

Desserts at Loch & Quay restaurant are also packed with flavour. Try the enticing chocolate brownie with pistachio crumb and vanilla ice cream, or the vanilla, pear and star anise tatin with toffee sauce.

Very enjoyable. Excellent staff. One point was that the steak and lamb were a bit over cooked rather than rare

Service was very very slow and restaurant wasn't even at full capacity. Taking into account the prices the food was not memorable in any way. There was no atmosphere or warmth from place or staff until my friend mentioned it was my birthday and then to be fair i did have a free drink and more friendly service . This could be agreat restaurant so sad noone seems to be all that bothered to make it happen!

Very good value and good service. My only criticism which applies to most restaurants nowadays is that scimping on portions may save money short term but long term it will stop customers coming back. It's a false economy. So when you offer scampi and chips as a main course I think you should put more than six small scampi on the plate.

Excellent food and service .. a really nice evening for 4 . We had a sharing fish platter for a starter followed by 2 steaks , 1 mussels and 1 Sea Bass and all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The only downside is that the tables are quite close together, but that said we ate at 8.30 and by the time we had finished the restaurant was less crowded and quieter. Live music was good although sometimes too loud but still hard to hear over the customers chatter, but all in all a great place to eat. Thank you

Great food, great service. Quiet mid-week meal to celebrate our 20th anniversary but nice bustle about the place, shared the seafood platter which was fabulous, great mains, no room for pud ;o(

Not our best time at Loch & Quay, the had chef issues! The food was good but the service was very slow. It took two and a half hours for us to order and eat our two courses, eventually the waitress apologised, meanwhile the boss sat at the bar and did not come and apologise, not good pr!

I had eaten here twice before and thought it was very good. This evening was disappointing though. It was my 50th birthday celebration which I mentioned on booking, and while I don't expect anything extra, it is always a nice touch when a restaurant acknowledges a birthday, especially a milestone but there was no sign of any awareness. We were shown to the worst table in the restaurant, and I asked to be moved. I was told there wasn't another table and so I pointed out that it was my 50th birthday and I wished to sit somewhere quieter and then we were moved. I asked on booking to be told if there was no lobster that night...there was lobster, very tiny lobster, but there was no thermidor and I would like to have known this. The male waiter was very curt and did not know how to serve plates. We also did not have steak knives. The lady waitress was very nice but did forget a drinks order. The food tasted very good but the steak was strangely tough on the outside. My tempura prawns were covered in breadcrumbs...that was not tempura batter. Later on a group of men arrived and stood amongst the tables. Altogether the meal did not feel as special as the price or the occasion.

Great service, even put a 40th birthday balloon on the table. The porterhouse steak was fantastic.
