Over-priced mediocre food in dated restaurant. We decided to try this restaurant as it always seemed to be busy but was left disappointed and unsatisfied. Food was fine but not worth returning for. Also, when booking there is a fixed price 'a la carte offer'. The menu shown when booking is the standard menu however when you arrive you are told there is a separate menu for the offer. We went for the standard menu anyway but felt deceived by their 'offer' which just seemed like a ploy to get people to book.

Excellent food including one of the best steaks I've ever had which combined with half a grilled lobster made a superb "surf n turf".
My wife's Sea Bream fillet was also very good.
The service was not up to the same standard, possibly because we were in the Conservatory and could not be seen by the waiting staff. I don't mind a slight delay between courses but we waited so long we decided not to have desserts and even had to go the bar to request our bill.

    Nothing to say absolutely fantastic

The only criticism I have is that we stood for a while before anyone came over to say,"Can I help?"
When I replied,"Yes, I booked a table at 7-30 for four people." The answer was,"Did you book?"
But then it got better. The service was excellent, we weren't hurried. The staff all smiled. The food was excellent and the fish absolutely outstanding.

Overall we found the restaurant over crowded with the tables far too close together creating a poor ambience and no privacy. The main course took almost one hour to arrive and when it did one of the meals was almost cold. Overall, for a meal costing well over £100 for 4 people it was just not worth it. But the marketing of the restaurant was good.

Very good set menu. Three great choices, wonderful fresh mackerel, tender duck leg, and delicious prawn spaghetti. The four of us all enjoyed our meals, and thought it was good value. The service was very good, efficient and friendly. It was very busy, we can see why!

We have been using this Loch Fyne restuarant for many years and have always had good experiences. Last night was the exception, I waited so long for service to order another drink I went to the bar myself. The starter Chillie Squid was excellent, the fish and chip main was not. A small dish of mushy peas is served with the dish, normally fresh and tasty. Last nights serving was inedible.
I asked for the bill and waited again, eventually going to the till on the bar to pay. The manageress apologised for our meal and explained that a staff member hadn't showed. I suggested that they needed at least 4 staff to keep up. She did however discount the bill by 60% and asked that we return and give them another chance, not sure that we will.
