Great food and very patient service as we had an 8 month old with us who was more than entertained by the staff.

My companion loved her Mussels, which was the main reason for going to Loch Fyne but, sadly, my Salmon was very overcooked. No excuses for overcooking fish in a Fish restaurant!

Delicious meal and wonderful selection. I always have the smoked haddock - melts in the mouth - and very good with the creamed leeks. I'm not keen on the battered egg and can't see why they do this. It was better as a plain poached egg even if it didn't look as attractive,.

Nice and bright, warm welcome, reasonable menu choice for lunch special, good service. My only criticism would be that when we ordered dessert and coffee, the coffee came first and was cold by the time the dessert arrived and had been eaten. It is normally understood in restaurants that the coffee arrives after the dessert. The salmon fishcake could have contained more salmon in proportion to the potato.

We were greeted with a very warm welcome by Jessie(?) and he offered us a choice of tables, which was nice. I thought the ambience was relaxing and the decor nice. We went for the Christmas menu and Dennis (also very welcoming and helpful). I had the celeriac soup, which was perfect - 10/10. Next I had the steak, which was very nice. My only thought on this, and it happens often when I eat out, I think the salad would really benefit from a couple of cherry tomatoes and couple of slices of cucumber - cost? next to nothing, but would make all the different to a few salad leaves. For dessert I had the brownie, which was very nice but I am not a great pudding person, so it would take something amazing for me to really enjoy it (like chewy home made meringue!!). Over all it was a very enjoyable experience. I don't like fish (I know that is like blasphemy to someone like you) but wanted to try the restaurant out with some other food and I was very happy I did. One thing that was good for me was that although I could obviously smell fish, it was a fairly pleasant smell and not overpowering. If I had one thing to say on a constructive level, I thought the service although good was slow. On the other hand my friend found it relaxing and doesn't mind slow service, so there you go, you can't please everyone all the time!
