Customer reviews for Loch Fyne - Kenilworth

Although we usually have a good experience dining at Loch Fyne, Kenilworth - regret to say this was not one of them. We booked in advance for a table for 3 for the a la carte menu and given a table in the bar. We arrived on time at 1.0pm and waited a long time for the first course to arrive. My husband's soup and my daughter's starter were lukewarm and needed re heating. We then waited an hour for our main course to arrive and the quality was well below the standard we have come to expect from this restaurant. We know this was Mother's day and the restaurant was very busy but if they can't cope with these numbers then they shouldn't accept the bookings.
In compensation the bill was reduced by 50% - but this doesn't make up for what was to have been a special occasion.

Upon arriving we were offered to go straight through or relax and have a drink first. We sat in the bar area and had a drink which was very pleasant. When we went through to the restaurant we were offered the choice of two tables and were served by Tina. Tina was lovely and very helpful. The food was outstanding and presented very nicely. I opted for the salmon and my Boyfriend had the sea-bass. Both dishes were tasty and of the right proportion. We both had a dessert which although lovely we were too full to finish ! The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed and the staff were very helpful.

Adequate. No fuss. No fawning. No special 'over the top' welcome. Some time after ordering Fish & Chips, we were told that there were no chips as 'the order hadn't come in' and 'would French fries do?'. Never having understood the difference that was fine - though others might grumble. It seemed curious that a place which prides itself on fish & chips would run out. It was telling that the chips evidently come from off site. Even more curious that someone either couldn't chop spuds or nip round the corner to buy a supermarket brand. Of course, none of this has a bearing on the serving staff - but it is a pretty amateurish management failure.

Service was good and food excellent. We had 2 children ini the party so our table position was most appropriate, with a view into the kitchen. The children had lots to see, were really interested and so well behaved. Thank you for their goodie bags. The waiters also responded to all requests e.g. to bring the children's meals with the starters.
All in all a most enjoyable evening in a welcoming and very pleasant environment.

This was not the best dining experience I have had at Loch Fyne. The waitress was helpful but the only staff on duty so we had to wait a while to make our order and with a 3 year old in the party this was even more of an issue. My mum had salmon with broccoli, the salmon was a good size and cooked well but the broccoli was barely warm. I had fish and chips, the fish was small and the mushy peas were barely warm. There were about 5-6 tables occupied for lunch and the kitchen well staffed so no excuse.minspoke to the manager on leaving as it was my Dads birthday my mum and I did not want to spoil it at the table in front of him. Normally I have a lovely meal at Loch Fyne and took advantage of the Black Friday deal for my Dads birthday, it was disappointing.

The fish was fresh and cooked to order with lovely sauces and good variety of side dishes. Two of us had grilled salmon and two had the fish of the day -hake.We had just starters and main courses, and I thought the portions were about right. There was a delay in taking our order, but once taken the service was good.

Service was good, great atmosphere. Food was good too, problem with one dish, a little undercooked, dealt with professionally and efficiently.
