We arrived later than the time booked but as it was a Monday and quiet, there was plenty of room, We were greeted beautifully, sat at the best (corner) table, and welcomed with a free glass of champagne for the birthday husband. Fantastic start! Delicious too. We both ordered the haggis - his with scallops too - and then two of their classics, the smoked haddock with poached egg, and the main fish platter dish - both excellent. Beers and waters materialised promptly, dishes came if anything too promptly, and we were finally left to keep chatting as long as we wished, whilst being kept an eye on. Heaven.
The building in Guildford is interesting to sit in and with its high roof space very agreeable, with surprisingly private acoustics.
This was our first visit after a gap of several months and we can't wait to go again.

Lovely buildings - a little different to other restaurants. Everyone (there was 6 of us) really enjoyed their food - highlights were the chocolate orange tart, salmon teriyaki, fish and chips

Lovely meal although fried squid a little greasy. Seafood tagliatelle gorgeous. Beware the curry - it's very spicy!

Excellent and friendly service. Restaurant although quite large has a lovely atmosphere, help by the gorgeous building. Unlike a lot of restaurants there is a lot of rooom between tables which is lovely. Food excellent and wide choice, I had the tagliatelle (again, can never resist) and my Husband the crab and lobster burger. Both excellent.

Excellent meal but was phoned 2 hours before meal to be told that my booking had only just been received and they could not accommodate me. When I explained that I had booked 3 days earlier and had a confirmation no. they back tracked but you should look at whether your system is working correctly

Service was extremely shocking, when we got seated we were waiting for at least 20 minutes before even being approached for drinks order. Once food came out we were never asked if everything was ok with the meal. My girlfriends food was flavourless which when ordering chilli flavoured prawns I would expect some sort of flavour to them. After the plates had been cleared we had to ask for the table to be wiped clean so we could chat with resting our arms in crumbs. Took a while to be offered the bill and that was only after we prompted the waiter. Only plus side was my cod fillet was amazing but it was supposed to come with sautéed green beans but I got boiled ones. Unsure as to whether I would come back to this chain

The oysters for starters were the best part.

The fish selection (salmon, seabass, prawns etc.) as a main was more rustic than expected, basically served all together in an earthenware pot rather then individually, and all cloaked in the same paprika butter, which was almost too strong for the delicate fish. The food at the top of the dish was luke warm, the base hot.

The coffee machine was out of order on the day, as were both urinals in the mens'.

The greatest issue was the time taken to be served: the order was taken a good 20 minutes after being seated, the starters took a further half an hour. With a quick pudding at the end, the meal took nearly 2.5 hours, rather too long.

Given that the restaurant isn't cheap, I had expected more and was disappointed.
