One of the best Italian restaurants in Wanstead area with high standards of cooking and service. Pleasant and lively atmosphere

As a resident of Wanstead I have to say I'm unsure as to what "J for Judge"'s comments pertain to! I regularly eat out in the locality and I can testify that this restaurant is a personal favourite of mine and is complimented on my the numerour guests I have dined with since it has opened (many of whom are ex-pat Italians!). THe food at the restaurant is exceelent, matched only by the quality of service and the warmth and frendliness of the staff. The wine list is a touch limited but then it is an Italian restaurant so they are naturally going to serve wines indigenous to their country. I'm happy to see that L'Infinito is still trading since J for Judge's last visit and long may it continue to do so (as I suspect it will given the support and custom us locals are intent on giving it!)

    Disappointed with the food [...]

I booked a table for 7.30pm for our 5 years anniversary. Staff was friendly and ethusastic. We are deaf and we were able to lip-read and communicate with them. We ordered their red house wine which was delicious and was given a free complimentary olives. We ordered beef carpaccio for starter. The meat was too fatty, too pink and it was chewy. Too much lemon juice and we have had better. (we got refund back on this) For the main, I ordered king prawns risotto with white wine sauce, saffron, garlic and chilli. When it arrived, the prawns weren't shelled and there was one very strong flavour throughout the dish (probably too much saffron)- it tasted burnt and it was yellow. I could not taste the other ingredients that was meant to be in it- not much chilli. My partner ordered duck ragnot pasta and it was not tasty at all, again a very strong flavour of nutmeg or cinammon that was overpowering. We were very disappointed with the food. We live in the area and the restaurant looks very pretty on the outside and inside. We felt let down because the prices does not reflect the quality of the food. Quite limited choices of meals too. We won't be coming again or recommend it to anyone.

Whilst the food quality was reasonable, the ambience of this restaurant was dreadful. The music was awful and the restaurant had no atmosphere whatsoever. The staff were boring with no personality and we will never return to this overpriced and quite dreadful restaurant. Based on the overall performance we doubt whether it will still be trading in say 6 months time. Avoid at all cost.
