A classic country pub, The Lazy Toad Inn Exeter has earned a place in the Michelin Guide with its hearty British and European menu. Housed in an 18th-century, Grade II-listed building, this character-packed pub also boasts a peaceful beer garden.

Favourites on The Lazy Toad menu include loin of pork with Jerusalem artichoke purée, salt-baked celeriac and red wine salsify, blue cheese and hazelnut tortellini with crispy kale, and classic fish and chips served with minted mushy peas and hand-cut chips. Amongst the indulgent desserts, savour glazed banana loaf with peanut butter ice cream, or lemon posset with passion fruit jelly and shortbread biscuit.

With open fires and original features, The Lazy Toad in Brampford Speke is a charmingly rustic venue serving English and international wines, and local ales. Sunday roasts are also a firm favourite.

The Lazy Toad Inn Devon sits in an idyllic village on the banks of the River Exe. Exeter is just a 15-minute drive away.

Excellent meal, friendly, attentive staff. Nice touch with the Mother's Day chocolates. Speedy service on a very busy day. Portion size was sensible. Green veg slightly overcooked but as it was such a busy time, not surprising. Pervious visits this has not been a problem.

Pleasant atmosphere, nice fire, food all good and home smoked salmon outstanding. Good luck with it.

Very attractive pub in classic Westcountry village. Super lovely staff who were warm and friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our time at the Lazy Toad. We went on the Sunday and ate in the bar area which is very relaxed and informal -particularly suitable for families and people who have dogs, as dogs are welcome in that space. The menu had a good range of options (one of us was a vegetarian) and two choices of a roast. The service was excellent: the food arrived at a very reasonable interval after ordering, even though they were very busy indeed. The food was well presented and very delicious . With main courses there is an on an option to have a smaller portion, which two of us did. We found it was the perfect amount and left enough space for one of the scrumptious puddings . All in all an excellent lunch and many thanks to everybody who was engaged in
    providing it for us.

As usual the Lazy Toad provided us with a wonderful experience - a warm welcome, superb ale and wine and an exemplary meal. The tenderloin was awesome and the basil creme fraiche served with figs was inspired.

Nice enough but no atmosphere and overpriced home cooking

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We did ask to move tables as the original table allocated was the long table with a bench backing onto the radiator which really wasn't comfortable. We were very happy with the alternative table and thank you for your patience! We loved the ambience and decor. All four of us had 3 courses and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The service was friendly, efficient and discreet. It is quite some time since we have been to the Lazy Toad as we were not always happy with the menu and food combinations previously but we will be returning. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.
