A classic country pub, The Lazy Toad Inn Exeter has earned a place in the Michelin Guide with its hearty British and European menu. Housed in an 18th-century, Grade II-listed building, this character-packed pub also boasts a peaceful beer garden.

Favourites on The Lazy Toad menu include loin of pork with Jerusalem artichoke purée, salt-baked celeriac and red wine salsify, blue cheese and hazelnut tortellini with crispy kale, and classic fish and chips served with minted mushy peas and hand-cut chips. Amongst the indulgent desserts, savour glazed banana loaf with peanut butter ice cream, or lemon posset with passion fruit jelly and shortbread biscuit.

With open fires and original features, The Lazy Toad in Brampford Speke is a charmingly rustic venue serving English and international wines, and local ales. Sunday roasts are also a firm favourite.

The Lazy Toad Inn Devon sits in an idyllic village on the banks of the River Exe. Exeter is just a 15-minute drive away.

Had a wonderful first experience at the lazy toad. We arrived to a warm and cosy bar, had a drink by the fire before we ordered and sat at a lovely table in the restaurant. Joe looked after us very well and the food was delicious, We had the Beef fillet and Grilled Seabass, would recommend both. A lovely evening, we will be back.

This was the most disappointing of our many visits to the Lazy Toad over the years, mainly because the dish I ordered was overpriced at 18.95 for a chicken breast and skinnyfries.Chocolate and Amaretto tart was rock hard and couldn't taste any amaretto. Despite mentioning no apology or reduction was offered. Welcome was as friendly as ever and we will just put this one down to experience, as usually offer value as well as quality dining. Pub was as lovely as ever with wood burning stove very cosy

It has become a tradition for my wife and I to partake of the Xmas special every year a few days before Xmas ( in addition to the odd visits we make during the year for a snack lunch). We have always enjoyed our meal and this year was no exception. Although we were perfectly happy to eat the traditional turkey we were slightly surprised to see that of the three options on that menu, the other two were cumin based which for those who are not keen on curry is a bit restrictive.
