From start to finish it was a wonderful experience dining at Lapin. The staff greeted me at the door and I was seated as a single diner on a larger table with a couple which I thought was very nicely done so I was not isolated but did not intrude either. The menu is well balanced with rustic french dishes and regional swiss flavours well presented on over sized menu cards which showed flare and good humour. I chose the French Onion soup to start which was rich in flavour, very well seasoned with a nicely soaked cheesy crouton floating on top. My main dish was the Grandmother's Rabbit Stew, a chef's special which was so tender and deliciously balanced that each mouthful was an explosion of sensations. These are both dishes I cook at home and I can see that I should stop for the sake of the poor onions and the Rabbit!
The service was attentive, well humoured and a credit to the restaurant, everything for me was perfect. As a single female diner on a Saturday night I felt comfortable, I was well taken care of and I left with a glow both inside and out.
This lovely little eaterie attached to the Hotel De La Paix is a real gem and a must visit for anyone who enjoys excellence without obnoxious prices. Book with confidence, you will not be disappointed.
