Only thing that spoilt it was having no waitress service. I was hosting 7 others and spent the whole time going up and down to the bar.

A former 15th century coaching inn, The Lamb Hotel Ely impresses guests with a range of traditional English dishes and cask ales. Neutral colour schemes are evident in the interior with large glass windows allowing plenty of natural light to stream in.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, The Lamb menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at The Lamb pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

The Lamb is a short walk from Ely Cathedral while Ely Rail Station is a 7-minute drive away.

The service was slow, waited 40 minutes for the food, many customers enquiring how long to wait. On arrival food was tepid as if it had stood for along time. Not a pleasant experience

Not impressed with our overall experience at The Lamb. The three of us had roast beef which wasn't hot, the beef was tough, the veg was cold! Best bit was the Yorkshire pudding and the roast potatoes which there were only two! The mash I didn't try but was told it was more like smash! Can't fault the service and the desert was yummy. Our table was in front of a step to another level and the space was a bit tight to get through and everyone who walked passed held the back of my chair to help themselves either up or down....
