We had an excellent meal. The service was perfect and the surroundings delightful. Particularly enjoyed the background music. Thank you.

The cosy Trattoria La Ruga in Walthamstow Village serves authentic French cuisine to east London, with an exquisite menu which changes daily. Intimate and romantic, the restaurant has a small terrace for al fresco dining, and offers a selection of fine wines.

Using seasonal ingredients, the La Ruga menu could include starters of mussels in white wine or snails in garlic butter sauce. Menu specialities include whole Dover sole in butter and lemon sauce, wild boar steak with grilled vegetables in porcini mushroom and cream sauce, and the fillet of beef on a crostini with pate and red wine sauce.

The wine selection includes the work of small, artisan growers to provide pure, refreshing complements to La Ruga’s fine French food.

On the upmarket Orford Road in the village area, La Ruga in Walthamstow is an 8-minute walk from Walthamstow Central Tube Station.

Such a cozy little restaurant, this was our first and definitely not last visit, amazing and very high standard food. Plates looking gergeous, food very tasty, seasoned perfectly just to make your taste buds dance. Staff nice and friendly. I only miss a cup of proper coffee there.

We were a group of 8, the restaurant was very accommodating, the food was good though the waiting time was a little too long in my opinion.

Quite disappointed with the variety on the menu at first, not much choice, this restaurant is listed as being French and Italian, I would say the menu is more French with Escargot (snails) as one of the starters, one of my favourite with French is a fish soup, unfortunately no fish soup, settled for smoked salmon, and pork for main course, my partner had Dover sole, must say all the dishes were excellent , very freshly prepared, accompliments had lots of flavours, all the food was absolutely delicious. Could do with just sqeeezing 1-2 dishes added to the starters menu list (fish soup) and (prawns)

It was very good experience, good food and very nice service. However, it is advertised as Italian cuisine, they served actual French food. Nevertheless, it was very tasteful and pleasant food.

This small family restaurant has a lovely intimate atmosphere
The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is very good.
In terms of costs, for 2 of us, starters, main course and half a bottle of wine came to £76.00.
    Would definitely go again.
