A genuinely Italian restaurant, La Pergola at the Wheatsheaf near Cambridge offers fresh Mediterranean food including fantastic pizzas from the wood-burning oven. A 17th-century former coaching inn houses La Pergola, run by experienced Italian chef Giulio and his family.

Delicious antipasti open the La Pergola menu, with homemade pickles, cured meats and deep-fried squid and mozzarella. A huge range of pizzas uses freshly made dough and home grown ingredients from the restaurant garden, with spicy Americana and big folded calzones to devour.

Chargrilled steaks, sea bass and homemade sausage feature along with classic pasta dishes, gnocchi and calamari. Tiramisu and panettone bread and butter pudding are among an impressive dessert choice, also including luxurious Italian ice creams, gelato and sorbets.

On Sundays, La Pergola restaurant puts an Italian twist on traditional roasts, with a special choice for children too. La Pergola at the Wheatsheaf in Harlton is around a 15-minute drive from central Cambridge.
