Made very welcome and given a good table. Good buzzy restaurant atmosphere but overall the experience was relaxing.

A charming family-run Italian restaurant in Cambridge, La Margherita showcases Mediterranean recipes passed down through the generations in a smart setting, with large windows flooding the interior with natural light.

The menu at La Margherita contains authentic Italian recipes that have been passed down through the owners' family. Everything is prepared fresh on the premises – the pizza dough is prepared each morning, and topped with imported delicacies like fennel salami, buffalo mozzarella and anchovies. There are varied antipasti sharing options, pasta recipes like linguine with prawns, oyster mushrooms, chilli and garlic, and rich mains like veal escalope fried with cured ham.

Desserts at La Marherita Cambridge include the owner's famed tiramisu, as well as a popular gelato range with an impressive 24 flavours. The wine list boasts bottles from all across Italy, including Tuscany and Sicily.

A wonderfully authentic example of traditional Italian family dining, La Margherita sits an 11-minute drive from Cambridge Rail Station.

La Margherita is a lovely small Italian restaurant. The place was busy but the service was quite quick and the pasta dishes were excellent, very Italian! We also had the risotto di zucca e rucola which I would highly recommend. Also, all the staff members were polite and helpful! All in all it was a good dining experience and we would definitely go back!

Excellent as ever - the best Italian restaurant in Cambridge by a mile. Staff are wonderful - nothing is too much trouble and they get the balance right between looking after you and leaving you to get on with your meal/conversation. The soups are amazing and the food generally is fresh, tasty and well presented.

I have been coming to dine at La Margherita for many years, and it never disappoints.

Service was attentive and friendly. Food was excellent; between us we had sardines, veal, seafood risotto and vegetarian dish. Everyone enjoyed the food. The room was comfortable and the table spacing generous. The background noise was easy on the ears and never intrusive.

Great menu - so much choice! We had four dishes - all delicious. The staff was helpful and attentive, but not hovering.

Good menu, pleasant atmosphere, professional staff and after a sensible wait for the first course (we didn't order starters) we were served efficiently. Smiley welcoming staff (it adds to the feel-good factor)

The menu was stunning - we could have ordered every item. Two of us shared the roasted vegetables starter and a huge plate of colourful and delicious options was set before us. Then each of us had different mains - my chicken with a mix of different mushrooms in a smooth creamy sauce was delightful. And all that before the ice cream. Lovely ambiance - convivial without being too noisy (go upstairs if you want it a bit quieter); excellent unhurried service; and very reasonably priced and drinkable house white wine. We will go there again -soon I hope!
