Bringing faultless Italian cuisine to Glasgow since 1970, La Lanterna is the holder of The Glasgow Restaurant Association's Best Italian Restaurant as well as winning Best Italian Restaurant in Scotland in 2013 and 2014. Nestled underneath the busy shopping district of Hope Street, the cosy bistro dining room has been serving Glasgow for 44 years.

Pasta rolled fresh in house goes into dishes like seafood ravioli with cream bisque, or warming lasagne made to La Lanterna’s treasured recipe.
An extensive menu of traditional Italian desserts at La Lanterns in Glasgow includes creamy panna cotta drizzled with chocolate orange sauce, or tiramisu made to a 35-year-old recipe. An excellent wine list is sourced from some of the finest vineyards in Italy.
Having truly stood the test of time and enjoying a glowing reputation across the whole of Glasgow, La Lanterna Italian restaurant sits just 4 minutes’ walk from Glasgow Central Rail Station, adjacent to the Radisson Blu Hotel, and 5 minutes from the Hydro Arena.

We enjoyed the Saturday evening menu. Two of our party had steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the rack of lamb which was lovely. My mum and I shared the dessert tasting platter and it was amazing. My sister loved the creme brulee. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Having thoroughly enjoyed previous visits to La Lanterna, I was really disappointed this time. It was extremely busy and tables were just crammed in making it noisy and uncomfortable. The food was edible but not as described on the menu.

This is a lovely restaurant with great food. It's warm and clean although the warmth of welcome will often depend on whoever your table host is for the evening. Some of the staff take a wee while to wam up although they're great when they get there. Hot starters and mains were delivered in good time with Verdure, Prawn and Mushroom starters being very well received. The Penne Genovese was the only exception, the sauce was absolutely bland and lacked flavour. This news was taken in good natured fashion by the staff, the kitchen informed and the cost of the (unfinished) dish removed from the bill. Fair play from a restaurant that clearly takes itself seriously and merits its bes restaurant awards. Overall, great service and food from a great restaurant that dealt well with a one-off glitch.

Catching up with old friends at lunchtime. Friendly welcome from staff and efficient service. Chose from Table d'hote menu. Varied choice, all well cooked and presented. The men chose Lasagne which they praised & the women the sea bass which was nicely cooked ( moist) & came with sauté potatoes. We were not rushed & staff were happy to let us sit & chat. The men appreciated being able to have a pint of beer.
