I couldn't find a fault. From the time we walked through the door until we walked out the staff were amazing there when you wanted them and not over bearing. Food was lovely, hot if hot and cool if necessary. Would definitely go back again.

With Normandy-born Romain Havard as its head chef, La Barbe offers award-winning French cuisine, specialising in classical and provincial dishes. The long established restaurant hosts regular events, with taster evenings focussing on a specific region of France and offering themed food and wines.

Seasonal dishes are created to feature on the La Barbe menu, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. A typical favourite is the carefully grilled swordfish, flavoured with pesto and served with a traditional pepper, tomato and chorizo piperade. Alternatively, try the original roasted duck breast with sweet red wine sauce and innovative fig polenta. The tantalising dessert list at La Barbe restaurant includes refreshing homemade sorbets, and an appetising crème brulee with fresh, tasty raspberries.

Whitewashed wood panelled walls and brick partitions give the dining room at La Barbe in Reigate a traditional feel, while light pours through the large windows. A seasonal wine menu offers an exceptional list of French wines, alongside some New World labels.

Authentic French cuisine is served at La Barbe in Surrey. The restaurant is opposite Reigate's stunning Priory Park.

The restaurant has a new chef, but he is maintaining the style and quality of the food - very important as clients like me have been dining here for 30 years and know what we like. Service continues to be friendly and helpful, although on this occasion we had a long wait for our main course.

This was a special occasion for 8 family members and we booked several weeks in advance. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The menu was limited and grossly overpriced with very small portions. We had to buy vegetables to go with the main course and the portions were pathetic. The chicken was dry and overcooked and arrived to the table cold. We asked for water to accompany wine and were served with expensive bottles of water (bill for water was £40) rather than jugs of water which should automatically be served in a restaurant. The price of the food was very expensive for what it was - which was not very special. The service was excellent, the waiter was very friendly and efficient. Overall, the food was disappointing and we came away with the feeling of having been ripped off. For those wishing to dine at this restaurant, it would be a good idea to ask specifically for a jug of tap water otherwise you will be served with bottles of water at a high price. For a bill that was just shy of £500, way more was expected.
