This was the first time I had dined at The Kings Head, we went with friends on their recommendation. It was light and airy, no cramming in of tables. There was a comfortable relaxed ambience, and the food was good.

Having dined here a few times previously, our experiences have been mixed. Tonight's was much the same. Our table was in a good position looking out into Wimborne square. The service was friendly and we had the right amount of waiting time between courses. For starter we had the sharing platter consisting of breaded mushrooms, chicken wings, chicken bites, garlic cibatta and fries with 2 dipping sauces. This was fantastic - everything hot crispy and tasty. The mains were disappointing. My husband had ribeye which was well done (he had asked for medium) and my seafood puff pastry was soggy on the bottom and the veg and potatoes somewhat dried out. We did mention to the waitress about the steak and she did offer to take it away and have another cooked but this would've meant not eating 'together' due to the wait.....
We shared a millionaires cheesecake which was amazing. If only the mains had been as great.
With a glass of wine and an Aspall cider total cost just under £50.

there were very few staff in so no table service and sat at table for 25 minutes waiting and when someone came through, I was told they were short staffed and to order our food at the bar -

Good pub food, plenty of choice on the menu with the standard menu or the British menu. Service was ok, could have been a little more attentive as we were left for quite some time before having to ask if we could order desert. Not busy for a Wednesday evening, but would recommend booking a table on other nights.

quite disappointed with our pre theatre meal, presented well, but chicken was quite dry and husbands vegetables were hard, the dessert was quite expensive£3.99 for three small scoops of vanilla ice cream, also a lot of the desserts on the menu were of the chocolate variety. the room was quite cold, no heat coming from the radiators, it was raining and quite cold outside, an elderly couple next to us asked if we were cold, they obviously were to. this was a gift for my husband's birthday and did feel let down.

Very friendly helpful staff. Food was hot and tasty, presented well. Cosy atmosphere, although it was a bit chilly where our table was situated think we had number 24(but not sure). Menu had good choices something for everyone. Unfortunately there were a few shortages on the menu but we overcame that.

Really great range of gluten free, onion, garlic free options. Even had a gluten free bake well tart. I have dined in other places where the only dessert I could have was sorbet or ice cream. Excellent waitresses who advised me on the menu, great value for money.
