Awarded a Michelin star, John’s House Mountsorrel serves exquisite homegrown food, using local produce to create flavour-rich British and European dishes. Exposed brick walls and open fires, create a charmingly rustic setting.

The John’s House menu evolves with the seasons, beginning with dishes like Wye Valley asparagus with quail egg, truffle and crispy chicken skin, and raw Orkney scallops with crab, cucumber and elderflower. Innovative mains include fillet of Cornish sea bass with chorizo and avocado, and Gloucester Old Spot piglet with pineapple, peanut butter, sage and blood pudding.

To finish, sample the classic cheese board, or tuck into creative desserts like sea buckthorn curd with white chocolate sorbet, liquorice and sweet cicely. The wine list at John’s House restaurant offers an extensive selection of bottles from around the world.

Serving award-winning food in relaxed rural surrounds, John’s House Loughborough is a 6-minute drive from both Barrow Upon Soar and Sileby rail stations.

This is the second time we have visited John's House and both times have been amazing. Having visited a large number of Michelin restaurants I can safely say that the food is one of the best. Nice surroundings. Service good without feeling you are being constantly watched. I would 100% recommend to anyone.

Superb food and well judged, attentive service in comfortable and relaxed surroundings. Really good value for money, particularly when you factor in the amuse-bouches and petit four. Fantastic.

Excellent taster menu with wine flight which was selected to perfection. Especially enjoyed cod and venison courses

Fabulous food beautifully presented. Crispy crackling on Gloucester old spot pork and delicious sauce with the hake. Try the wild garlic soup, really good! Only downside is the price of a bottle of wine which we felt to be too expensive.

A fabulous experience. Superb and beautifully presented dishes in a relaxed and unfussy atmosphere. Clean and contemporary with quite lavish attention paid to guests by all the staff, who were friendly and informative. Remarkable value considering the top quality of everything that was served. Unhurried and courteous service. Restaurant sits on the farm that is the source of many of the ingredients used in the food. The farm and the owner's vintage motor car and motorcycle collection added an extra element of interest after the meal on a beautifully sunny day. My party of 6 for lunch included a vegan and a vegetarian, and their food was equally inventive, exquisitely presented and delicious.
