Food was exemplary, some of the best we've ever eaten, service was fantastic with really friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Main courses could've been a bit bigger but everything else was pretty much flawless.

We were totally delighted with every aspect of our visit to John's House - including: the warm welcome, the old fashioned style of the reception lounge, the aperitifs, the menu selection (as we were looking for a light lunch), the reasonable cost of our light lunch, the interesting wine menu, the layout and appearance of the dining room on the top floor, the impeccable service at table, and last but definitely not least - the appearance and clever flavours of our very tasty lunch.
Our first experience of John's House and we are certain to be back. You have got the balance right !

As parents to two small children, my husband and I are more used to fruit-shoots and pre-meal colouring, so as our Christmas treat we booked a lunch date at Johns house. This was the first time either of us had eaten in a Michelin starred restaurant (a long-held ambition), and we weren't disappointed.
The service was wonderfully attentive, but still relaxed. The venue has lovely old-world charm, with an intimate reception area (& roaring log fire), and an airy upstairs dining room. The bathroom was beautiful & spotlessly clean. But above all, the food was just AMAZING. Each course was outstanding. Every dish was impeccably presented, and bursting with flavour - obviously created by a very talented team. There was nothing we would change - our plates were literally scraped clean. It was perfect. Our experience at John's house was fabulous: can't wait until next Christmas (!) to do it again. Many thanks.
