A hidden gem surrounded by the shops and theatres of Covent Garden, Joe Allen is a highly regarded restaurant serving a selection of American and European specialities.

Ideally located for a pre-theatre meal or for dinner after the show, Joe Allen is quietly tucked away on Exeter Street just a five-minute walk away from Covent Garden underground station. Nearby theatres include The Lyceum, Novello Theatre and Duchess Theatre, as well as the Fortune Theatre and Theatre Royal. Joe Allen is also a great destination for a special brunch, lunch or dinner when shopping or staying in one of the hotels around Covent Garden and on the Strand.

Opened in 1977 as a stylish London dining venue for theatre-goers, artists, journalists and performers alike, Joe Allen has a relaxed, casual feel throughout. Today the healthy cuisine and friendly atmosphere attract an eclectic clientele of the West End's young and trendy crowd, romantic couples and families.

Another great pre-theatre dining experience. Staff friendly and efficient, food good. Ordered a mixed salad which was a little bitter, but our (minor) complaint about it was handled very well indeed.

Staff were very attentive and helpful, especially in making sure our white wine was cooled sufficiently. We chose the 2 course set menu which was excellent value for money. The atmosphere was great. We would certainly come again.

Wonderful welcome, superb and very helpful service - not over played and excellent food. The Piano player was a bonus adding to the buzz. Would definitely go there again.

We love this place, and have been going for years. Tried some different things on the menu last night - but with the trusty Caesar Salad as always!

Very good service. Arrived ten mins late so we were pressed for time for the theatre but still managed main course and dessert. Bar steak was great, albeit the chips were more like chipsticks. But that was ok as the kids got normal chips. My son is a veggie and he loved the veggie burger. Daughter had chilli and other son the hot dog. All eaten.

We always love to visit Joe Allen when we are in London. Always top notch, friendly service and the last time we were there, the staff went out of their way to accommodate my friend who has diminished eyesight. Oh - and the food is always lovely!
