A hidden gem surrounded by the shops and theatres of Covent Garden, Joe Allen is a highly regarded restaurant serving a selection of American and European specialities.
Ideally located for a pre-theatre meal or for dinner after the show, Joe Allen is quietly tucked away on Exeter Street just a five-minute walk away from Covent Garden underground station. Nearby theatres include The Lyceum, Novello Theatre and Duchess Theatre, as well as the Fortune Theatre and Theatre Royal. Joe Allen is also a great destination for a special brunch, lunch or dinner when shopping or staying in one of the hotels around Covent Garden and on the Strand.
Opened in 1977 as a stylish London dining venue for theatre-goers, artists, journalists and performers alike, Joe Allen has a relaxed, casual feel throughout. Today the healthy cuisine and friendly atmosphere attract an eclectic clientele of the West End's young and trendy crowd, romantic couples and families.

Very welcoming, an early phone call to check we were OK for the time, arrived and seated very quickly, we were asked whether the table was suitable as an option was available (good touch) as we were on the Bookatable deal our glass of champagne arrived with the menus. The food was really good, nicely presented and a good portion, the pace was just right and no pressures to leave the table so all in all a great restaurant and one I will definitely return to.

Had a great meal at Joe Allens. It is a very busy place with a great atmosphere. It is very reasonably priced and the food is very good. I would definitely recommend this venue to friends.

Booking via book-a-table was quick and easy.
Polite and helpfully staff both on arrival and during our meal. We had the 3 courses + glass of champagne for £24, really great value. We never felt rushed so able to take our time and enjoy the atmosphere, food and a girlie catch up. No complaints, have been before and would go back again.

Loved my experience, especially the fact that staff read the comments I left whilst booking stating the it was my partners birthday. Staff popped a candle in his desert and sang happy birthday - I wasn't expecting it, was a real treat!

Nice venue. Pianist playing throughout lunch. Food was excellent and lots of staff around. Meals arrived quickly but after we had eaten we weren't attended to at all / no offer of more drinks or coffee or the bill. We sat and chatted for about 45 minutes and I had to go and ask for the bill in the end as couldn't catch anyone's attention.

As we were looking for the Restaurant we were pleasantly surprised as it seemed a little 'tuck away' place that brought good expectations. The door led us downstairs and we were greeted by two lovely people who took us to our reserved table. When sitting we were lucky enough to be next to 'Esther Ranzen', so if you eats here it must be good and good it was. The food was lovely, the service quick and the price affordable. Would definitely recommend it.

As I remembered from being a child, classy yet casual. Feels we could have stepped out into New York City after our meal. The kids loved it too.

I really like coming here for dinner - the restaurant is tucked away (you'd be very lucky to find it by accident!) but they do a lovely mojito and the food is very good. Service was also good. It's usually pretty busy, live piano background music (nice).
