Friendly staff and fun ambience. Decent food at a reasonable price.

We had trouble with our food arriving. First two dishes arrived....Ten mins later another main course.....ten mins later the side order of chips ....ten mins later the second order of chips.

This was rather frustrating. But Jamie's didn't charge us for the second chips.

    Overall OK.

Very enjoyable experience. We booked dinner for 5 people at 6.30 pm. Our waitress was perfect. She came almost immediately to take our drinks order and then left us to choose our dishes in peace. She smiled warmly and was friendly without being too personal. She seemed to approve of all our meal choices. We chose tomato ciabatta, breaded mushrooms, garlic bread for starters. All very good especially the mushrooms. For the main course we had silky spaghetti in leek sauce, pizzas, aubergine bake and a few side dishes. Simple delicious Italian food and great atmosphere. The portions are quite generous.
Jamie's Italian is convenient for everything - close to the Friary shopping centre, the High Street shops, 5 minutes from the railway station, close to park and ride, opposite a small taxi rank, good for a meal out before going to the Yvonne Arnaud a Theatre or Odeon Cinema, both an easy stroll away. The restaurant is unpretentious. You don't have to get dressed up to go there but the decor is smart and modern. Nice Italian touches on the walls.mThe atmosphere is relaxed and light-hearted. One of our party is vegetarian and there were plenty of vegetarian choices on the menu for her. The final bill for two courses, all extras and drinks for all of us was £20 a head including the well-earned tip. Very reasonable for a smart town centre location.
It was a lovely night out for us all

Staff friendly vs efficient, at the bar I had to give instructions on how to make a martini blanc , at the table 3 waiters left the dessert menu , I had to get up and find someone so I could pay . I have had the linguine many times and this time it was watery soft pasta not seasoned . I ordered a coffee it came with no spoon so I had to again wait to get someone attention, my son had a burger it was good . Place is super noisy can't have conversation easily.

    Very good and extremely child-friendly.

Service very friendly and we liked our waitress but we just waited too long for everything except the bill. Having been kept waiting on arrival for someone to receive us and show us to our table we didn't even get the chance to order an aperatif for 20 minutes nor even get any further eye contact until then but there were no apologies or anything like that, even though we had been given the wrong special menu to look at all that time. The food was great with one unfortunate exception being that the vegetables were lukewarm at best. The courses and potatoes were great,

Easy to book via Bookatable, no problems getting seated and sorted in the restaurant. Restaurant was very busy and yet the service was good and food arrived within good time. Everybody was very happy with their respective dishes.

Excellent meal & service. Rather noisy, making conversation difficult, not helped by background music also too loud.

A very tasty and wonderfully cooked meal.
