We had a very enjoyable meal. The shared platters to start with were very good, and our spaghetti with a seafood sauce from the specials menu was delicious, quite the best we have had. Our cocktails were very good, but just a bit slow in coming, even though it wasn't very busy at the time. Our waiter was efficient and very friendly.

The starters and main were just wonderful, flavours were well balanced complimentary not competing, portion size just right, the deserts were OK a bit dry and chewy ( pavlova and brownie) but still attractive and good flavours, service excellent. The Christmas menu did not have enough choice for vegetarian so we picked from the standard menu, the restaurant was perturbed why we had chosen the Christmas menu if we felt there was too restricted a choice but the website gave us no other choice and all I could do was leave a message when booking saying I hoped they could accommodate us, which they did.

love this place right in the heart of Exeter. Always great laid back dining experience. Food excellent as always.. tried the chicken/chorizo risotto which was beautiful. Service not so good this time, which to be fair is unusual, as server forgot to send the order to the kitchen which left a very long wait between starter and main course. Server did admit and apologise for mistake and manager removed cost of drinks from bill so handled well i have to say

Our party of 6 were given a table in the back corner upstairs with a view of a bin and very uncomfortable hard school-type chairs. Then a member of staff came to tell us a list of dishes that were not available. A very bad start. We were not happy and asked to be moved. It took a little while for our message to be accepted, but once it was we were moved downstairs to a much more pleasant and comfortable table with efficiency and helpfulness - much appreciated. Then we began to enjoy ourselves with your wonderful food and service. The pasta dishes - we tried 5 different ones and all were excellent. Ice cream terrific too.

The vegetarian dishes were exquisite. Ordered mushroom ravioli and a mushroom pizza.Only downside was that they ran out of both the desserts that me and my partner were going to order.
