The whole experience was excellent. Using the app " we booked a table for a late lunch. Staff were very welcoming & polite on arrival, acknowledging our booking.

This was a really disappointing New Year treat. The bolognese was inedible, the pasta on all dishes not great, minimal sauce, really lax service after a staff change- dishes with us for ages.. I think the chefs had been out for Hogmanay ... but I had relatives with children here and it was supposed to be a special meal, costing a lot of money even though they gavd one meal free when I mentioned my meal. Bah humbug!

As a family, we have enjoyed visiting Jamie's Italian many times and are Gold Club members however I am afraid to say that our experience in your Edinburgh restaurant yesterday was very disappointing to the extent that i think it is unlikely we shall return. The service was chaotic. The servers appeared to be running around in a disorganised fashion without any clear overall management. There was a floor brush with a pile of what I presume to have been brushed from the floor, including a slice of meat, propped at one point at the wall beside a table of diners. There were lots of empty tables in the lower part of the restaurant where we were sitting but during our time many people came into the restaurant asking for a table (I would estimate at least a total of 50, all turned away), firstly left to wait as there was no one at the door to welcome them, and often it was then one of the servers who went over and turned them away. I got the impression that there was just not enough staff. Whilst our server was running back and forward to the door, we in the meantime were waiting a very long time for our drinks/ bread and tasters to be served and when the latter eventually arrived, the soup taster was cold. I did speak to who I think was the manager and initially found his response very dismissive, walking away and pointing out that they were doing their best. On a positive note however, and to his credit, after that he did make the effort to make sure that our food arrived and apologised for the delay, then deducting the cost of our drinks from the bill. The whole experience I am afraid however was more like Fawlty Towers rather than Jamie's Italian.

Excellent atmosphere, food also excellent, great menu, very efficient service, staff friendly, plank starter very different but very tasty. Chicken dish lovely, Fillet steak cooked how I asked it to be, very tender, could be a little bigger possibly, overall great meal, three courses and wine for two people in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, for under £100.00, great NewYears eve dinner, great value.

Jamies Italian Edinburgh was quite the dining experience, we were packed into a lovely restaurant like wee sardines. Due to the amount of diners and minimal staff, service was very slow. Don't let that detract from the fact the staffeta are very helpful and friendly. The food itself was very very tasty. All 3 courses were spot on, as was the complimentary coffee for our wait. Much appreciated. All in all, pleasant surroundings, friendly helpful staff, and, beautiful food.

We visited on 22/12/16, and ordered the breaded turkey, two of us had it and both were unwell that evening.

Apart from that, the way we were addressed and ushered to our table was done so poorly. The hostess asked for our name for booking, didn't say a word and expected us to follow her through. It's unacceptable because the restaurant wasnt packed and I would expect a decent level of attention being paid to customers at the front door.

The burger we ordered was also very dry.

Overall experience is 2/5. Quality of food is below average. Honestly, there are better Italian restaurants in Edinburgh within similar price range. I have personally visited the Edinburgh's outlet several times, two years later, this experience is a complete let down.
