The piano player made the ambience perfect. As for the food, stunning. I had the 10oz Wagyu sirloin. Was by far the best steak I have ever had. Overall a fantastic night.

Brought to you by one of the UK’s best-loved celebrity chefs and named in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants 2015, James Martin’s eponymously-named restaurant is found within Manchester’s glitzy 235 Casino. An on-site ‘meat market’ sees guests step inside a cavernous walk-in meat fridge, which showcases cuts from the menu.

The seasonally-changing menu by James Martin is bursting with produce sourced from tried-and-tested butchers, fishmongers, game dealers, farmers and cheesemakers. Signature flavours might include Thai crab risotto, or coffee-crusted venison loin. Imaginative twists for dessert include white chocolate & whisky croissant pudding, or apple crumble soufflé. Traditional Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are also a firm favourite.

Perfectly matched to the menu, the wine list at James Martin in Manchester features old and New World bins, and experimental mixes are served at the adjoining Vega Lounge cocktail bar.

This classic British restaurant is set on its own mezzanine level, with edgy Great-Northern-warehouse styling including vintage fabrics and artwork, polished girders and exposed brickwork. Find restaurant James Martin just 3 minutes’ walk from Deansgate Train Station. Please note, guests must be aged 18 or over.

Food was lovely, dessert in particular was delicious! We ordered a side with our mains & we're a little bit disappointed when it didn't arrive so we had to ask a member of staff. Think they'd simply forgot as apologised & explained they would cook us a fresh one however we'd nearly finished our mains by the time it arrived & it certainly wasn't worth the wait! We were offered complimentary prosecco but this didn't really make up for it as I was driving & my husband doesn't like proscecco. Aside from this it was a lovely evening & I would certainly find there again- if only for the dessert!!

Oh dear oh dear. Decidedly average food. The actual restaurant part is well presented, the staff were very pleasant, but both our steaks were very average.
However, the worst part of the whole experience was the need to walk through the casino, in order to reach the restaurant itself. A truly intimidating experience. Not only does the reception level resemble a cheap high street amusement arcade, but the next level is populated by characters that wouldn't look out of place in Strangeways Prison, half a mile up the road.
I am astounded that James Martin would put his name to something so poor.

A wonderful experience, would recommend it to any one.
Beautiful food, great atmosphere, excellent service can not complain about anything.
We had the 5 course dinning with accompanying wines, absolutely perfect.
The Ox Check was the best piece of meat I've ever tasted and the chocolate pudding was to die for.
I am not a wine fan, but I thought the sauvignon blanc was one of the best I've ever had.

A perfect restaurant for a date, special occasion or any reason.
I will definitely be going back.

A very enjoyable meal, we had the taster menu with the wine, the 2nd,3rd and 4th dishes were our favourite ones, the fish dish especially, the chocolate dish to finish was very intense extremely rich, the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable an altogether nice evening at the restaurant.

Strange to enter via the casino

The food was really lovely. I had the steak and my friend had ravioli and the terrine. However, the service was terrible. We had to wait almost an hour for the starter and had to remind the waitstaff that we had ordered one. We then were consistently ignored throughout the evening. When we asked for the bill, we waited over 15mins to pay for it constantly trying to get the attention of the staff only to be ignored again. We also had to ask for our coats about 3 times before they brought to us.

We had the Christmas menu and it was so tasty! Great restaurant would recommend it to anyone. Yes it is within the casino but this doesn't affect the meal and the quality of the food was amazing and really good value

By far one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food was sensational and the service was great. Wagu steak was an amazing cut.
