Brought to you by one of the UK’s best-loved celebrity chefs and named in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants 2015, James Martin’s eponymously-named restaurant is found within Manchester’s glitzy 235 Casino. An on-site ‘meat market’ sees guests step inside a cavernous walk-in meat fridge, which showcases cuts from the menu.
The seasonally-changing menu by James Martin is bursting with produce sourced from tried-and-tested butchers, fishmongers, game dealers, farmers and cheesemakers. Signature flavours might include Thai crab risotto, or coffee-crusted venison loin. Imaginative twists for dessert include white chocolate & whisky croissant pudding, or apple crumble soufflé. Traditional Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are also a firm favourite.
Perfectly matched to the menu, the wine list at James Martin in Manchester features old and New World bins, and experimental mixes are served at the adjoining Vega Lounge cocktail bar.
This classic British restaurant is set on its own mezzanine level, with edgy Great-Northern-warehouse styling including vintage fabrics and artwork, polished girders and exposed brickwork. Find restaurant James Martin just 3 minutes’ walk from Deansgate Train Station. Please note, guests must be aged 18 or over.

The evening was fabulous. Service brilliant / lovely venue n the food...... Wow. Loved every course ; was just the right size / very attractively set out. Waitress introduced each dish n asked if we enjoyed each one. Really recommend it

beautiful room but temperature uncomfortably cold, no atmosphere. Waitress smelled of cigarette smoke when she first came to table. Service far too keen and plates were swept away whilst we were still chewing the final mouthful, We chose the Tasting menu with paired wines. The courses were described really well when they were served. Soup was outstanding, the other dishes failed to meet our expectation.i was unable to eat the fish ceviche and although I was offered an alternative it was another cheese dish and having previously been served a very rich cheese dish I declined. The chicken course was bland and the taste did not match the visual effect The chocolate sweet was far too rich. All wines were very palatable, the South African white was exceptional. The location within the casino is odd
Overall a huge disappointment

Booking went well. Food was good. Had the accompanying wines with taster meal - a bit tight with the measures. Real disappointment was that in my booking email I asked if a taster menu could be done for myself lactose free. I did not get a reply.
Phoned and was told yes.
When i arrived we were asked about dietary requirements, and it was quite clear that no thought had been given to the issue. I basically got the same as everyone else minus the items with lactose. No effort had been made to think about alternatives.

My husband is severely intolerant to wheat and cows milk and we mentioned this when we booked. "No problem", was the welcome answer.
Upon arrival we were swiftly shown to our table. The table was very precisely set but still not overly fussy. All four of us chose the 5 course tasting menu with three having the accompanying flight of wines.
The food was absolutely delicious, even my husband's tweaked menu. He definitely did not feel he'd missed out on anything, which is quite rare. The wines were delicious and well paired to each course.
All the staff appeared knowledgeable, polite and efficient. They appeared at exactly the right moments to refill water glasses etc but were never obvious or intrusive.
Our only gripe was at the end of the meal. Only one brandy/cognac on the drinks menu and at £85 a shot!
Apart from that webhad a lovely evening and will return.

Good value for money for the meat taster menu with wine pairing. Good variety on the vegetarian tasting menu too. The only negative is the car parking for the complex in which the restaurant is situated in is a little in the expensive side.

Great food, with restaurant in an upstairs warehouse area that you walk through the casino to access; and great service from all the staff. Spring Tasting menu with wine felt like good value for money. And they made a fuss of my partner for his 60th birthday which was much appreciated. Thank you.

Food took more than 1 hour, hectic waiters, dissapointing portions. Not good value for money. Good wine.
