The Gambrinus looks just like a Berlin pub from days gone by - and that's just what the restaurant in Linienstraße was when it was first established way back in 1882. The kitchen places great emphasis on the freshness of the meals and uses seasonal produce. The menu reflects the restaurant's enthusiasm for cultivating the culinary traditions of Berlin and the surrounding Brandenburg district, and offers a selection of dishes that go way beyond the ubiquitous Berliner Bulette (meatball), by serving specialities such as knuckle of pork or a homemade stew. Run by Gerhard Schröder (and no, that's not Germany's former chancellor!) and his wife Petra with a very personal touch, the restaurant presents a picture of Berlin pure and simple. In the summertime guests can sit outside on plastic chairs under the red-and-white striped awning.
