We had Afternoon Tea & it was brilliant, we had tried to book Betty's but couldn't get in & in all honesty we were glad - Hudson's was perfect, the staff lovely, efficient & helpful, you hardly noticed they where there - how perfect is that for Service. We where celebrating my sister's 60th Birthday we a weekend in York & it rounded off a day of shopping in York, especially the Shambles. I would highly recommend it.

A most enjoyable experience. Staff were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was stunning! Every mouthful was a new taste and it was sensational. The surroundings were beautiful. We will definitely be returning.

Loved the sandwiches and scones but some of the cakes looked like they'd been bought at Aldi. Hendricks tea in the teapot was a lovely treat. I was distracted by the dirty windows and the plastic lighting. The place looks like it is in need of a refurb.

The restaurant was beautiful but not enough space in between tables as our conversation was overruled by a loud gentleman on the next table. Tea, sandwiches & scones were delicious but was not impressed with the cake selection at all. For a 5* hotel, cupcakes....really?! Expected a tad more than that for the price! Waiter and waitresses very pleasant. It was a celebration visit for my daughters birthday, was enjoyable but not 5* in my opinion.

Fantastic venue we went for the Hendricks Gin afternoon tea for all 4 of us. It was a real joy and something new serving G+T out of a teapot.
We all agreed we would go back again.

The room for afternoon tea is very grand. There is a good selection of teas and desserts. Service was slow even though they were not busy which was the only downside to a pleasant afternoon tea.

Excellent staff from the doorman onwards, couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. They dealt easily with an egg allergy which can be a challenge with afternoon tea. A very enjoyable visit for us all ranging in age from 8 to 82
