My friend and I had a lovely meal from the a la carte menu. Our favourite was the sweet and sour chicken and the belly pork. The staff were very helpful, and looked after us really well. We loved the restaurant and will definitely eat here again. Many thanks.

A chic fusion restaurant and bar in Shrewsbury, House of the Rising Sun is a melting pot of eclectic Eastern and Western influences. Australian and Pacific Rim cuisine collides with comforting European flavours in an edgy, contemporary interior.

With a resident chef in the top 10 UK Sushi Champions, oysters, sushi and sashimi on the House of the Rising Sun menu keep company with small plates like the 12-hour cooked Wagyu ragout with fresh pasta and herb crumb, and razor clams with chorizo and edamame beans. Grill offerings include banana leaf-wrapped mackerel and a fillet of beef with oyster mushrooms and jalapeño salsa, while pot-roasted lobster is served with kaffir lime, chilli and Thai basil.

Rustic wood flooring is offset by plush red velvet dining chairs and sleek leather booths in the House of the Rising Sun Restaurant in Shrewsbury, while zig-zag timber panels and quirky travel-inspired decorations characterise the atmospherically lit bar area.

Receiving a rave review from the Shropshire Star, House of the Rising Sun is nestled on Butcher Street, a 4-minute from the Pride Hill Shopping Centre.

We were sat on a table by the window, very cosy sofa seat and comfy. Drinks were ordered and served promptly, and food orders taken, we ordered 9 dishes and 2 between 4 of us. The food came out gradually which was ideal as we like trying, tasting and eating different bits at a time. The food was all fab, especially the beef teriyaki, noodles, calamari and delicious chips!!! Service was also excellent, very attentive without being overbearing. Thoroughly recommended...

Lovely place. The food was amazing; both the taste and presentation was perfect and the portion size was just right. The cocktails, as always, were gorgeous. The staff were brilliant; they were friendly, attentive and helpful. We'll definitely go back there again!

Excellent Mother's Day lunchtime meal for three. Chose the set menu of four "waves" – food delicious and plenty to eat. Particularly liked the beef teryaki. Service very attentive but a little slow between wave 1 (starter) and wave 2 (introduction) and between wave 3 (main) and wave 4 (dessert). good ambience and comfy seats with cushions in window. Lovely location in olde worlde pedestrianised street leading up to abbey. Tables outside – cool so we didn't use them. Would certainly go again.

All in all a very good experience. If the food could be pushed up a notch it would be superb. Pork belly tempura was great until I stumbled across a bit of gristle.
