Excellent attention to detail for my mothers birthday, Happy Birthday was written in Chocolate around her dessert, a lovely touch.

Good food and service, but small portions, and expensive drinks. Noisy.

Hotel du Vin is a great place for any occassion. We very often frequent the restaurant, and could not resist this offer of 3 courses and a glass of wine for £19.99 each. We prefer to dine in the evening - once the candles are lit, the 'shabby chique' style of the French bistro takes on a style of its own! Great food choice, we have never had a bad meal. Also, very local for us - only 7 miles away.

Everything excellent apart from too many bones in sea bass fillet

Very pleasant surroundings inside and out! Although the venue is in the heart of the city of Winchester there is ample parking and a lovely secluded terrace garden. The interior has character and at night time especially exudes warmth with lighting.
The staff are numerous and very professional and attentive.
There is a choice of menus for lunch and dinner and also a lighter less expensive range.
My sister and I have eaten here on several occasions as a treat with shopping in the area and have never been disappointed. In fact our lunch has been the real highlight of the day!

Very quiet ambience. You could hear only the creaking floor and clinking bottles in the fridge. Maybe some soft music would help. Windows toward garden a bit dusty. Starter arrived before bread. Too many staff serving one table. I do appreciate that it's a French style restaurant but an English menu would be useful.

We arrived and were greeted at the door and taken into the dining room - we had suggested that we would like to seat outside so were given the choose. We were served very quickly and attended by various members of staff who were all very helpful and pleasant. We were provided with a choose of wines and these were poured for us throughout the meal. We were asked at various stages if everything was OK. Three of us had the steak and chips which was lovely although it would have been good to have a little salad or something else on the side. However, my sister opted for the Chicken and was very disappointed and would have been very hungry without a cup of chips - there was very little chicken and it was not very tasty and a salad which is not always everyone's choice - it almost looked like she's received someone's left over - our comments were going to passed to the Chef. The receptionist was also very friendly and we finished with drinks in the very attractive garden. Overall it was a very pleasant relaxing experience and it was value for money under this offer.
