Dined early on a Tuesday evening - quiet to start with but became busier and more atmosphere. Attentive service, good food, fixed price menu excellent value. Would recommend.

Inside a stunning 1715 Georgian building, Hotel du Vin Winchester serves up a slice of classically elegant French bistro dining. Regional ingredients are used, with private dining rooms and an intimate walled garden.

The Hotel du Vin menu celebrates elegant French bistro-style dining, using fresh premium ingredients. Delicate starters such as lobster ravioli give way to bold mains, which include roast breast of pheasant, and vegetarian options like wild mushroom risotto with white truffle oil. A range of superb desserts also feature.

The Hotel du Vin restaurant wine list is a highlight, featuring a huge variety of carefully selected bottles. Dark leather chairs and stained-wood tables sit alongside the colourful, bustling bar area, ensuring an elegant yet informal ambience.

Our party of four had a fabulous night. Excellent food and wine. Went for the three course fixed price which was good value with a couple of extra side dishes. Very good service. We will definitely be going back very soon.

Good food and service, but small portions, and expensive drinks. Noisy.

Hotel du Vin is a great place for any occassion. We very often frequent the restaurant, and could not resist this offer of 3 courses and a glass of wine for £19.99 each. We prefer to dine in the evening - once the candles are lit, the 'shabby chique' style of the French bistro takes on a style of its own! Great food choice, we have never had a bad meal. Also, very local for us - only 7 miles away.

Excellent attention to detail for my mothers birthday, Happy Birthday was written in Chocolate around her dessert, a lovely touch.

Everything excellent apart from too many bones in sea bass fillet

Very pleasant surroundings inside and out! Although the venue is in the heart of the city of Winchester there is ample parking and a lovely secluded terrace garden. The interior has character and at night time especially exudes warmth with lighting.
The staff are numerous and very professional and attentive.
There is a choice of menus for lunch and dinner and also a lighter less expensive range.
My sister and I have eaten here on several occasions as a treat with shopping in the area and have never been disappointed. In fact our lunch has been the real highlight of the day!

Very quiet ambience. You could hear only the creaking floor and clinking bottles in the fridge. Maybe some soft music would help. Windows toward garden a bit dusty. Starter arrived before bread. Too many staff serving one table. I do appreciate that it's a French style restaurant but an English menu would be useful.

Very good value meal, great quality and service as usual. House red wine was very good.
