Had lobster shared platter and a rib eye steak. The waiter who advised us on the champagne was on point. The steak was ok and lobster was pretty good. The daiquiri was very poor and the scotch I had wasnt a 50ml serving. I thought it was very pver priced for what it was and towards to end of the evening our waiters didnt seem present as much.

I booked this a birthday treat with my mum, it was fantastic, the staff were very friendly, nothing was any trouble. We had a glass of champagne and a whole pot of tea each. The selection of sandwiches was good, we also had savoury pastries too. There was also a great selection of cakes, fair too much for us to get through! Very good value for money. Would recommend this hotel.

Very nice,my fillet steak was excellent, but my son said the peppercorn sauce on his rib eye streak was not very good and my daughters chicken was hard.Niether was so bad that they complained and the crime brûlée was really good..the choc pot,,I left most of it,enough said. The service was pleasant and courteous but extremely slow.We thought the restaurant manager a waste of space,a smile would have helped.Despite all of the above we had a very nice time.

The food was amazing however the menu was just their usual 3 courses for £20 menu with a glass of wine - do the£29 didn't represent any sort of deal at all. Opted to buy a bottle for dame price as the deal two glasses. Confusing to present this as a deal. However good was really good

Our arrival was a little marred by a waiter having an argument with a resident who was told he couldn't have a table because he hadn't booked. He was staying there and it wasn't busy!

Having read previous accounts I was a little wary about what would be available but no problems we ordered different starters and mains no problem with them not being available.

My pate was delicious and my husband's prawns looked lovely. Mains arrived piping hot and well presented, staff were friendly and approachable. My beef ragout was incredibly yummy and hubby had loads of chicken with his meal. Our puddings were just as nice, one slight problem I ordered the pear tart but got the apricot & almond tart instead, I could have complained but am ok with both almonds and apricots so had it anyway. Hubby's chocolate pot with a brandy snap was lovely; sweet but not overly so.

Coffees were good but at almost £4 a cup you'd expect them to be.

My main gripe - and one you get in lots of places now is that the service charge was already on the bill when it arrived, this is a pet hate of mine, if I feel the service is good I will leave a tip but I hate it when it's on there as an assumption. I could have complained but who wants to make a fuss?

Overall a fantastic meal and a good night out, this place is special to us as we both worked there before it became the Du Vin and had our engagement party there, will definitely go back again. The main a la carte menu looked delicious; next year's our 20th wedding anniversary and we're planning an overnight stay and a meal.
