restaurant was entered via the pub so when we arrived we loved the pub so much we asked to dine in the pub but with a restaurant menu. the building is over 300 years old and you can see the charm in the pub. it's a friendly place but the service is at a snail pace even though the restaurant was empty. we had to find the waiter to remind him of our main course. However the food is of very high standard. it's worth a visit if you are not in a hurry.

although we were late - misunderstanding with the booking, we waited half an hour for are free cocktail, in fact we were on the starter and wine
before the cocktail arrived - told the bar staff were very busy

starter ok, but the sea bass had only tomato and crutons with the dish would have like season veg wine expensive for house

I have been to Hotel du vin many times over the years but have to say this was well below what I have experienced before. I know it was a Wednesday lunchtime, but the place lacked any atmosphere. Considering there were only 4 tables being occupied the staff were extremely slow and unattentive.
Food was just ok. Wouldn't be in a rush to re book in the future.

Excellent lunch. Not the first time I've dined here. Booked a lunch in a deal but certainly did not feel short changed by the courses available through this option. Food was well balanced, very tasty, extremely good value and generously proportioned. Wine is on the prices side (but was aware of this from prior visits and of course is optional). Deal came with an associated cocktail which enhanced the overall value.

    Well recommended !!

My husband and I shared a chateaubriand which was delicious. We had a lovely meal and wine but did find the restaurant a bit noisy. The bar was very cozy and atmospheric.

Food was very good but service from kitchen was slow and it wasn't because it was particularly busy in the restaurant
