I have had lunch several times in the past at Hotel du Vin and always been very pleased. This time however I was a little disappointed. The service which is usually good, though polite this time, was slow. Unlike other guests our coats were not taken and we waited over 40 minutes for our starters. My main course was ok but I thought over complex thus detracting from the impact of the sea bream. My wife's small glass of one at almost £10 was pricey for what it was. I would go again based on past experience and I recognise that places can have off days.

I booked this as a pre-theatre lunch, and wished I hadn't, as we could have stayed there all day! The atmosphere in the bistro is great, the food and service impeccable, I would have no hesitation in booking there again.

After having afternoon tea at other venues, my wife and I were a little disappointed with Hotel Du Vin. The surroundings and décor were not as we expected - it was a little plain and cold in the tea room and the food presentation could have been better - savouries were served first and we could not have a cup of tea until after this when the cakes and scones were brought out which we thought was strange. We were expecting more of an 'experience' and felt disappointed - it could have been so much better. The food was just OK - nothing special and seemed a bit synthetic although the tea was nice. Candyfloss was served on the cake stand but it dripped all over the cakes - not a good idea.
The staff were pleasant and attentive which was nice but I think Hotel Du Vin needs to up it's game where afternoon tea is concerned as there are so many better experiences in Birmingham City Centre - we will not be returning to Hotel Du Vin.

Lush food and tea! Ended up getting our food before drinks but quickly sorted out with no issues so was absolutely fine. One of the girls doesn't drink hot drinks and was charged for a coke would have been nice if hot drink could have just been swapped for a cold one. Other than that lovely time and good price for the lovely food we got ! Even catered for my friend who is gluten free although her sandwiches weren't as pretty she really enjoyed her food :)
