We have eaten three times at this restaurant. 1st time was when it was just called 'The Hemlock Stone' serving English cuisine. We had Sunday roast and all chose roast beef as a main meal. We waited 45 minutes for our started and another 50 minutes for the mains. All served on cold plates. One colleague was missing Yorkshire puddings and had to ask for them. The dinner was served and there were no utensils. Our dinner was in front of us and we had nothing to eat it with. We had to ask for knives and forks!!! The mixed veg consisted solely of mange tout with an odd bit of carrot and pea. All serving dishes were cold!!! We had another 45 minute wait for deserts!! 2nd time we visited it was named 'The Hemlock Stone & Dragon'. Again, there was a party of 6. All serving dishes and plates were cold!!! - unforgivable. we complained about this. I ordered a dish that was rated a hi chili rating. It did not have any chili heat in it at all. The waitress took it back for the addition of chilli. They had assumed I would not like chili heat!!!! - ridiculour, the waitress deciding on how spicy I would like my food - I had chosen it specifically for the spiciness. On leaving we mentioned the cold plates and serving dishes. We thought we would give it another try and went for our 3rd visit thinking they may have heeded our mention of cold plates. We mentioned our previous visit and the cold plates on being shown to our seats. We placed our order. Our plates came and they were warm so things looked hopeful. Alas, it was another 15 minutes before the food was served and of course the plates were cold,. Again the serving dishes were cold and the food lukewarm. We did complain and said that we would not be eating there again. Anywhere that serves food on cold plates and uses cold dishes should not be called a restaurant!!!

We dined at 6pm. Excellent food and beer. Service was brilliant and we watched the match afterwards in the bar next door. Despite being a pubg with a reastaurant attached you felt like you were in 2 different worlds.

I have been to the Hemlock Stone and Dragon several times and on different occasions and times of day. It is brilliant because you can book a table and get dressed up to have a meal in the restaurant or you can just drop by without booking and have a meal in the pub area. [...] The food is fabulous and reasonably priced and I shall be returning as often as I can to enjoy the good service, food and drink. Thankyou Hemlock Stone and Dragon.
