In a charming thatched building that is listed in the Domesday book, Harvester Cat & Fiddle is the perfect example of a rustic rural British pub with rich history. Inside there are exposed wooden beams and inviting brick fireplaces, while outside there is al fresco seating to enjoy lazy afternoon drinks or casual family meals.
From its succulent grill selection to the celebrated unlimited salad bar, the Harvester menu is packed full of wholesome flavours for the whole family. Rotisserie chicken cooked in a secret blend of spices is available alongside tender smoked ribs marinated in signature BBQ sauce, while smaller tapas-style dishes are perfect for sharing, with options like spicy crackerjack prawns, and grilled chorizo with padron peppers. There are generous combo platters, juicy steaks, well-stacked burgers, and a great salad selection with premium additions.
All kinds of sweet treats are served on the dessert menu at this Harvester in the Christchurch. The sundae selection loads real dairy ice cream with toppings like warm chocolate fudge brownie, raspberries and honeycomb pieces, while classic British options like Bramley apple pie sit alongside international twists like key lime pie. From the bar, there are world beers, spirits, and speciality soft drinks for the kids.
A stunning pub full of history and charm, Harvester Cat & Fiddle is only a 7-minute walk from Hinton Admiral Rail Station.

Would not recommend this place waited 30 minutes before a waitress even came over , good was warm and uncooked , ran out of both flavours of kids milkshakes and this was only at 6pm , gave up waiting to order dessert so left without having one .

Ordered steak medium well done. The result had the look and texture of a rather hard slab of shoe leather. The lady managing our table was very polite and instantly deducted it from my bill.
I have been coming to the Cat and Fiddle since 1975. It has expanded from a beautiful old pub that was full of customers to a modern food outlet. I have great doubts that the current commercial arrangement produces anything like the ROI of the original business unit.
However as a place catering to the masses it is doing a good job.

Good selection at reasonable prices. Like the gammon with egg and pineapple

My husband and I had fish & chips. The portion of fish my husband had was extremely poor and we would never order it again, although we like coming and were perfectly satisfied with 2 chicken dishes the night before. We were so disappointed.
