Formerly the cobbled driveway to the original station, Hansom Lounge at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London offers a selection of light bites and refined afternoon tea. The historic building has retained many original features including a vaulted roof and Barlow Blue girders.

Light bites on the Hansom Lounge menu include fresh sandwiches and salads, as well as hearty burgers with fries. Sharing boards include an artisan cheese board and a Mediterranean selection, whilst baked passion fruit cheesecake and rhubarb soufflé are amongst the indulgent desserts.

Afternoon tea at Hansom Lounge King’s Cross exudes quintessential indulgence. Start with a selection of sandwiches, including roast beef with horseradish cream, Scottish salmon with dill crème fraiche, and cucumber with mint and lemon and curd cheese. On the sweet section of the menu, scones, cream and jam are joined by the likes of raspberry macarons and lemon drizzle cake. As well as a range of teas, the afternoon tea menu is topped off by a choice of cocktails and champagne.

Housed in an iconic building, Hansom Lounge London sits next to Kings Cross and St Pancras Rail Stations.

Excellent afternoon tea with delicious cakes and interesting sandwiches

the venue is lovely and spacious. Friendly staff, although at times it was hard to attract the attention of waiting staff. We needed to top up our tea pots with hot water and had to wait a long time while we sat with cups of cold tea. The selection was tasty, but I was disappointed that our scones were taken away before they were finished. We didn't have too much of an issue with the slow service, as we did not have to rush off.

Who can resist warm scones dripping in clotted cream and jam, chocolate treats and lashings of tea? Not cheap but it was a treat and took advantage of the 25% off making it a totally delicious experience

An excellent afternoon tea with a variety of sandwiches - breads as well as fillings- and scones brought warm to the table with a choice of jams and the cream followed by a variety of dainty patisserie. There was more then we could eat (doggy-box provided)! There was a wide choice of teas and our pots were replenished as necessary. The service was professional and friendly. It was a light and airy space with comfortable chairs and the tables were not too close to each other. My only reservation was the fact that the lounge, being situated between two parts of the hotel, is used as a thoroughfare and trolleys laden with boxes of provisions for the bar and also rubbish in transparent bags were transported across the space which was a little distracting.

Very good savoury options, not always the case with afternoon tea, often too heavy on the sweet stuff. Very good staff.

Lovely airy, high ceilinged restaurant, busy, great ambience, as it was the booking in area nearby for the hotel which we found interesting and didn't impact on our experience. Seating was comfortable. Waitress, Eloise, a lovely Australian girl, was superb, very friendly, professional, she explained what all the sandwiches and cakes were etc. We even had a courtesy phone call the day before to ask if we had any allergies etc. which was nice, and our preferences were well catered for. Not as formal as some Afternoon Tea venues, but it was unhurried and relaxing and very enjoyable. We were offered refills of tea and sandwiches etc. which we took advantage of. Consequently we had designer doggy boxes to take home the cakes we couldn't manage to eat at the venue. Would definitely book again in the future. We enjoyed the Railway Children matinee, (a few minutes away) before the tea and then straight on the train home from St. Pancras, what could be nicer.

The afternoon tea itself was excellent and the service by staff was outstanding: the ambience of the setting was a little lacking - I associate afternoon tea with relaxation so to be surrounded by people clearly having business meetings, working on laptops etc was not the best. Another guest proceeded to have a loud row on the phone for about an hour: it would have been helpful if staff could have suggested that she take the call outside. Then people were clearly setting up for an evening event which involved lights and loud noise. I think a separation of a business lounge for working and meetings and a lounge for afternoon tea would be good,
