A beautifully rustic, red-brick pub crowned with Victorian chimneys, Hand and Spear is a quintessentially British Young’s pub and restaurant in Weybridge. Simple yet refined British cuisine comes from head chef and MasterChef finalist Karl Byron, and is joined by an extensive selection of wines and award-winning ales.

Hand and Spear boast that vegetables, such as the salsifi, Jerusalem artichoke, chard and sage in the ‘forgotten vegetable’ tart, are hand-foraged. Similarly, they smoke their own oak-smoked salmon, and the 21-day aged Aberdeen Angus ribeye steak, which comes with chips, watercress and blue cheese salad, comes from cows which are rested on mattresses.

The Hand and Spear drinks menu includes notes on taste, and recommendations for food matches. Cherry-picked wines from around the world are joined by a selection of classic cocktails, including the decadent chocolate martini, whilst ‘hardshakes’ use inventive recipes to combine milkshakes with spirits.

Retaining its Victorian heritage with a parlour, drawing room, double height conservatory and even an aviary, Hand and Spear is on the Old Heath Road, a 3-minute walk from Weybridge Station.

Hello I had the steak my girlfriend the sausage & mash, both dishes cooked well and tasted lovely. However the piano play is a nice touch better maybe for Sun- Thur. I came last year with my girlfriend also staying at Brooklands Hotel. Was disappointed that the Dj music wasn't there as it was a very nice atmosphere this should be only for fri-sat. I believe this was quite obvious as it wasn't as busy. The food selection this time was sparse and not as adventurous. The last time I had salt crusted seabass, pouched eggs with garlic mushroom for starter, I spoke to friends and family about the dish weeks later. Sadly though my experience this time will be easily forgotten. All staff were very attentive and friendly and the place still remains very clean.

Not been here in years but glad we returned. After a slight issue on our booking we were sat down within minutes - shown there by a very helpful and friendly Manager who settled us in and got us drinks immediately. Problem averted by good service! All other staff were similarly attentive and very friendly beyond just normal niceities - they have created a good service culture at the place. Menu limited to roasts and a few other things but understandable as it was Mothers Day and actually a roast was just what we all fancied. Have to say that the roast pork was fantastic and all veg very well cooked - tasty stuff. Roasts can sometimes flatter to deceive but not this and my wife said similar about the chicken. Impressed by the decor and new layout and interested to hear about plans from the Manager for hotel rooms, piano player on Sundays and the new garden set-up. All in all, an enjoyable experience - will definitely be back!

the best recommendation I can make is that the location is convenient, the staff are very welcoming and have looked after us so well with my disabled mother. She loves the vibrant, yet personal, atmosphere and loves the food, as we do.. They well us every time as long lost friends. That means a lot.

Food was pleasant and served quickly. The experience was let down as there was no advance warning on your website or at the point of booking regarding the building work, no parking available and the additional noise and disruption. I feel that this should have been made clear to us prior to booking as it did cause inconvenience.

Very weird meal, had sea bass which was served with brussel sprouts, parsnips and carrots which was explained as seasonal vegetables, not pleasant at all, same with the rest of my friends who were dining as well. Then had the cheese board and the cheddar cheese was that hard and flavour less as if it had been left out for a week!!!! The service was also very poor. Finally the bill was very expensive, £35 per head and we had no wine and only one drink each!!!

Really enjoyed the evening, great waitress/service who had dark hair and was from New Zealand.
    Great ambiance in the restaurant.
Great food especially the smoked salmon starter!
The only slight disappoint was that some main meal dishes had already sold out but guess a sign of popularity.. That said the 2 people who had to choose an alternative as a result went for the octopus and both said they were disappointed. Very chewy and too many capers in the dish.
Other than that a brilliant evening will definately be back!
