Lovely venue and great service. Quirky decor and a lively but no invasive atmosphere.

An escape from the lively hustle and bustle of Soho, Ham Yard Bar & Restaurant offers modern British cuisine. Enjoy classic flavours in a plush yet contemporary setting, adorned with an eclectic mix of colourful patterns and fabrics, and head up to the roof terrace for inventive house cocktails.

Beer-battered oysters and kohlrabi are highlights for starters, followed by pork belly with mustard lentils and salsa verde or tuna with chorizo for main. You might find vanilla crème brûlée with Armagnac poached prunes on the seasonally changing menu, for an autumnal twist on the popular dessert.

The bar at Ham Yard in Soho has its own menu, offering snacks, sliders and melts as well as a selection of ‘profitabombes’ for a sweet treat. Afternoon tea is exceptionally popular here, with sweet and savoury favourites served alongside a wide range of teas.

A unique setting, the Ham Yard in London even boasts its own bowling alley. Ham Yard is found a 3-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube Station.

Found the bread of the sandwiches hard. Seemed tbey had been made early and sat in the kichen area. Did speak to the floor manager who agreed and a fresh set of sandwiches given. The old grey tea the first set was fine how ever the teapot got cold. The waitress only top it up with hot water but the tea did not taste as good as the first. I found the waitress miserable looking and her body language seemed as though everything was a bother. Myaelf and guest were going to stay for champagne but due to not feeling comfortable we decided to get the bill and leave. I didnt feel I received value for money.

I phoned a few days before to check our booking for afternoon tea was still booked as it was for our friend birthday. Email was received. When we arrived confusion with our booking even though I had the email. We were then taken through the restaurant to a small room with sofa s and low table. We said to the lady we wanted to be in main restaurant at a table and chairs she then found a table for us. I was embarrassed about this as I said it was for friends birthday

Afternoon tea in a relaxed subtly luxurious setting. Staff were helpful but left us to enjoy a long chat and attempt to make it through all the food - we failed. Sandwiches each on different bread, warm scones with clotted cream and two jams and, the defeat, many little pastries and cakes - I'm sure they were all delicious but we couldn't eat them all. Gooey brownie, poppy seed lemon cake, choux bun, macarons, etc etc. Definitely the best tea I've had in London.

We went to Ham Yard yesterday for afternoon tea. Overall the atmosphere was great, the place was lovely and the food I did eat was nice. However the service was poor and there was a dangerous lack of allergy awareness. When I booked, I explained I have a nut allergy and asked if it could be accommodated and was told it would be added to the reservation. I reiterated this to the waiter and explained that the allergy is severe when we arrived and he made a note of it. When our food arrived the waitress asked if I would like her to talk through the food and I said yes. There was a peanut butter cup cake and another item containing nuts! If I had eaten this it would probably have been fatal. The waitress returned the food to the kitchen and I think she may have had to do this twice because I saw her return with it a second time. This left me with little confidence in what I was eating so I'm the end I just ate some of the sandwiches and scones which felt were the safest option.

At the end of our meal it took several attempts to gain the attention of a member of staff to settle the bill so on the end, my husband had to get up and ask someone.

The staff that served us were pleasant enough and the waitress who served us the food was apologetic about the experience but it is simply not good enough for kitchen staff to be dismissive about allergies. They need to understand the importance of checking all of the ingredients and the implications of cross contamination and how to avoid it. I visit many hotels and restaurants on a regular basis who get this right.
