The original Hakkasan restaurant, Hakkasan Hanway Place is a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant in Soho. Designed by Christian Liaigre, the glamorous dining room combines Chinese history, tradition and architecture.

Chinese cuisine from Executive Head Chef of the Hakkasan Group, Chef Tong Chee Hwee, is found on the Hakkasan menu. Strong Chinese and Cantonese influences are weaved through the authentic dishes, with innovative signature offerings including Peking duck with caviar and pancakes, or roasted silver cod with champagne and honey. The eclectic Taste of Hakkasan menu offers a journey through flavours, for between 2 and 7 people.

A 16-metre bar at Hakkasan restaurant in London showcases inventive Asian-inspired cocktails, which can be enjoyed at Ling Ling, the chic late lounge.

A weekly lunch event, ‘Dim Sum Sunday', is staged every Sunday from 12:00 until 17:00, and features sessions from Hakkasan’s resident DJ, Pathaan. Highlights include crispy duck salad, Chinese chive dumpling with prawn and crabmeat, crispy smoked duck and pumpkin puff, and grilled Chilean sea bass. The menu includes a cocktail from Hakkasan’s award-winning list to start, followed by a half bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne per person (a Magnum between 4 guests) and concludes with a digestive cocktail to enjoy with dessert.

With carved lattice screens and swathes of smooth dark English oak, Hakkasan Hanway Place in Soho offers a unique and intimate dining experience. Tottenham Court Road Tube Station is a 3-minute walk away.

Although the food and restaurant were very good, there was a very distinct feeling of being rushed.

When you are paying Michelin star prices you don't expect the mains to arrive while you are still half way through the starters. Also, I'm pretty sure that we didn't drink a whole bottle of wine between two people within about 30-40 minutes! As the wine is not left near the table I can't be sure about the last point but the bottle seemed to be empty in no time at all and suspect another tables glasses were filled from our bottle. In addition, I requested if I could have the wine slightly more chilled but was simply told that they recommend the optimum temperature is 7 degrees (which I know is recommended) but it wasn't chilled as per my preference as the paying customer.

I understand that London restaurants such as this need to make their service commercially viable with 2 hour slots. However, the situation wasn't at all relaxed, we were made to feel rushed by the staff, uncomfortable and very much obliged to move on from the table. So much to the point that we had to choose food, eat about 8 dishes between us and felt obliged to leave. All within the space of 1hour 20mins.

In their defence they did remove the service charge when requested and gave two complimentary cocktails. The bill still came to £200 and having dined in other similar quality establishments in London we felt very disappointed by the experience at Hakkasan.

For the price, I found the offering in Hakkasan a bit hit-and-miss. Our dim sum dumplings were a work of art and truly delicious. The duck spring roll was generously stuffed and the sesame prawn toast was the shape and almost the size of cricket balls. Soft-shelled crab is presented hiding under what looked like a pile of straw - edible noodles, of course - which made us laugh that the crab could have done with being better at hiding in real life. Scallops, which were delicious, were presented in a crispy basket looking like a straw hat. Wagyu beef, melt-in-the-mouth, was fabulous, but the portion was small and the price astronomical. My cultured companion and I agreed that we'd tasted better Singapore noodles from the local take-away. Perhaps our palates have been ruined by over-seasoned food; or perhaps the noodles just didn't taste of much. The music was loud enough to make everyone raise their voices, which means that dining in Hakkasan is lively, but very noisy. Service was good, until the point at which we were reminded that our "slot" was about to expire, in other words "hurry up and get out". I'm glad to have had the experience and would recommend Hakkasan to those of my friends who wouldn't bat an eyelid at £180 a head for dinner. Sadly, I don't have many friends like that.

Don't think I will come the next time. Waiting time is too long. The food is not as good as I expected. Difficult to find the place.

Excellent starters of dumplings with prawn and pork. Main courses were small portions considering the cost of £38 for 3 courses. The desserts were plain and slightly disappointingly ordinary.

All the dishes were very tasty. We had some fried shrimp with piments... Yummy! And tofu with aubergine was great too. BUT.... overpriced in my opinion. And be aware that the. ambiance is very much like a chic nightclub, and not at all like a relaxing restaurant. Much too loud for my taste; difficult to have a conversation with your dinner mates.
