Awarded a Michelin star in 2014 and winner of National Restaurant Awards Best Restaurant in the UK 2014 and Best Indian Restaurant in the UK 2015, Gymkhana is a centrally-located hideaway serving Indian food, with a strong focus on the tandoori oven. Inspired by colonial raj gymkhana clubs, the interior includes lacquered oak ceilings, glass wall lamps from Jaipur & hunting trophies from the Maharaja.
Chatpata sharing dishes are a main feature of the Gymkhana menu; other favourites include tandoori guinea fowl breast, leg & green mango chat with mint coriander chutney, wild mushroom & sweet potato shikampuri kebab with girolle raita, and jaggery sugar & black pepper caramel custard for dessert.
The lower ground floor is a modern interpretation of a 17th-century East India punch house, with an aged brass bar in the centre, oak wall panels & inky blue-leather banquettes. On either side of the room are two secluded sunken vaults, and the Gymkhana bar specialises in classic Indian punches, cocktails, and gin & tonic.
Gymkhana also offers 2 private dining vaults on the lower ground floor either side of the bar, seating 9 and 14 guests. Gymkhana in Mayfair is a 3-minute walk from Green Park Tube Station. The Gymkhana bar opens until 1am, Monday to Saturday.

I was disappointed on this second visit. Took my family there and the food was way more spivey and heavy than last visit. My 11 year old was not happy and there was no warning that dishes might be too hot for a child.

I didn't like the food there are better Indian restaurants in London. The place was so small, so much noise. Service was good

This is the sixth time I have been to lunch at the Gymkhana. I was with a friend from Chicago. I noticed that there was once again a very international crowd particularly from the middle east..
In an earlier feed back, I recommended that it would be useful to include a small glossary explaining indian words such as "Jinga"," Methi", "Baingan" etc.My friend although she has travelled extensively including India wondered what the dishes were and I had to explain them to her so that she could make the right choice. For example she loves Prawns and Aubergine and had not realised that they featured in the Menu but as "Jinga" and "Baingan"
As she is a coeliac, I was pleased to see that there was a "Gluten free " menu. However, I would have expected the "Dosa Chettinad" to appear there. I was not aware that gluten is present in the making of dosa. There could be a wider selection here as I have noticed how many people are "Glucose intolerant". I know 5 friends who have this problem and indian cookery can be easily adjusted towards this.
I do not have any negative comments on the service etc as they were all very good.
Best wishes for continued success.

We had an excellent meal here, eating with some friends from Delhi. Each dish had its own unique flavour and we enjoying tasting authentic Indian food. Street food such as Gul Goppers were delicious. Dosa with Chettinad Duck was very good and the scallops were outstanding. I definitely recommend Gymkhana and look forward to eating there again.

Best Indian restaurant we have ever been to. The butter chicken masala is spectacular, the potato and chikpea patties with yoghurt sublime, and the chocolate samosa just the perfect way to end it.
