The Grouse & Claret Rowsley serves British classics, rotisserie chicken, and gourmet burgers. An 18th-century building on the edge of the Peak District National Park, the pub offers an array of cask ales and world wines.

The Grouse & Claret menu features a range of rotisserie chickens with a choice of sides and sauces, as well as delicious gourmet burgers including wild boar and chorizo with Monterey Jack cheese and barbecue sauce. Guests can even build their own burgers with their choice of meat, cheese, sauce and toppings. Lighter bites, salads and sandwiches are also available.

Desserts at Grouse & Claret are delightfully indulgent with salted caramel sundae, sticky toffee donut pudding, and gingerbread cheesecake all on offer. The little ones are not forgotten, with a ‘Little Monsters’ menu of children’s favourites.

The Grouse & Claret in Derbyshire sits in between Matlock and Bakewell, and is a 12-minute drive from Matlock Train Station.

The service was poor within minutes of sitting down we were asked if we were ready to order, hadn't even had time to pick the menu up. The fish chips and peas. Not every warm chips were thin like fries and the mushy peas tasteless , the aubergine etc curry not very tastie and the nann bread doughy again not very warm, the beef and ale pie was very good but again served with fries rather than chips. We have eaten at the grouse and claret many times over the years but never again Not a good experience .

Staying at Chatsworth caravan club site so good place to eat, not to far away through the estate about 10 min drive. Nice simple food and reasonably priced.

Booked a table for a Valentine's meal for my Girlfriend and was well impressed, impressed with the choice of food and the service we received on arrival. Food came out very quickly and hot and was very enjoyable. Will definitely recommend to my family and friends and will visit again next time we are in the area

Food was very good, but service time was appalling, we had to wait 45 minutes before delivery of our meal. Now I know its Christmas but that should have come as no surprise to anyone and staffing levels should have been set at appropriate levels. The bar area was being run by one not very engaged person. Sadly not a patch on what the G&C used to be.

I booked for a lunch time christmas get together with work colleges. Booking was quick and easy through bookatable. When we arrived we was met with a smile and shown to a table. We had drinks fetched quickly and we ordered. It didn't take to long for food to arrive even though it was busy. Portions are a good size, the food is good value pub grub. With a good selection to choose from, and service is polite and friendly.

Arrived before the booked time of 1pm but our table was dressed and ready for us. We were only stopping for a quick lunch on our shopping trip and already knew what we wanted to eat, so that the waitress did not have to wait long to take our order, having looked on line at the menu. Service was quick and served with a smile and considering this is a very busy time of year they did well to get our meals to us promptly. The meal was very enjoyable and at a very reasonable cost. Will call again.
