A majestic setting on the corner of George Street and Charlotte Square, George Street Grill & Samovar Lounge pair classic European recipes and locally-sourced Scottish produce. Inspired by traditional grand European cafes and brasseries, enjoy a wide range of delicious classical dishes from brunch through to afternoon tea and dinner, and a stylish late night bar for drinks and cocktails.
Offering a luxurious spin on afternoon tea and taking its name from an ancient Russian teapot, the Samovar Lounge showcases a dedication to the art of tea brewing. Sip rare teas from delicate mismatched china, and indulge in stands of sandwiches, scones and hand-crafted cakes.
For brunch, sample a dish of seared foie gras, duck eggs and toasted brioche, or a traditonally-inspired croque-monsieur. Tender Scottish lamb with shallots, capers, lemon and olive oil leads the George Street Bar and Grill menu, while hearty roast dinners lead the Sunday lunch menu.
Boasting a stunning interior to match the surrounding area’s trendy status, George Street Bar and Grill is a contemporary and elegant all day venue. Homemade scones, sweetly-sticky preserves and thick clotted creams lead the sumptuous afternoon tea, together with a selection of teas, coffees or champagne. Don’t forget to try the affogato: a true Italian classic – steaming hot espresso poured over the finest vanilla ice cream, and you can even add a dash of liqueur.
Edinburgh Castle is just a 10-minute walk from George Street Bar and Grill in Edinburgh, while the pretty Dean Gardens are an 8-minute drive away.

Lovely food and well presented. Disappointed on the lack of selection of Rose wine. The bottle we would have liked they didn't have and the only other one was a dry wine and a lot dearer. If we wanted a dry wine we would have asked for that.

There was three of us and we had the Christmas menu which we all enjoyed. Staff friendly and efficient.

Nice setting and surrounding g. Surprisingly fly wuietfir time of year. Christmas lunch menu - good choice but of average quality . Sticky toffee pudding was disappointing - not warm enough and a bit stake at the edges. Drinks were pricey . Fairly pleasant

The food was very nice, but the service let the food down. Grumpy barman/greeter on arrival. Drinks order took a long time - the starters arrived first. Soup was ordered but no soup spoon bought over until asked. Asked for no ice in 2 drinks - both came with. Main course - 2 dishes had mash and this was warm, not hot. No check back during meal. Ordered additional drinks - another long wait - nearly cancelled them. I don't think the above would stop me returning, but i think the points are worth mentioning for feedback/training

Came here for an afternoon tea fort weekend in December, staff couldn't of been more helpful and welcoming. The afternoon tea itself was lovely and they were able to accommodate some fussy eaters and my pregnant friend with more suitable options. Only slight issue was not enough jam or cream provided initially, but when asked more given. Scones were the best we've tasted and was lovely to have a window seat in their lounge. Would throughly recommend this to anyone looking for a special and tasty afternoon tea.

We booked a table for five at 5 PM for the all day menu so the restaurant was quite quiet. Service was a bit slow but we didn't mind as we had been walking around the Christmas market and Edinburgh and it was nice to relax. We were attended to by an Eastern European and a Scottish waitress both of whom were very attentive and polite without being intrusive. We all chose Steak Frites followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding. The food was hot and tasty but two of the steaks were on the small side. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for Christmas and there was no Christmas music blasting out at us (thankfully) but some background music would have added to the atmosphere.

Very poor service. Took more than 45mins to get our drinks. Our meals arrived before our drinks. Had to chase them up 3 times for them but still took ages.
Food was very nice.
