With its leather banquettes, globe lights, dark polished wood and crisp white linen Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on Baker Street looks every inch the classic French bistro and its menu reflects this, its small wonder it won the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand 2008. It embraces the good value French ethos with its Menu Prix-Fixe (Lunch £15.50/ Dinner, 6pm-7pm, £17.50) with two choices per course though not usually a vegetarian one. However the A la Carte will suit all, starters include Gazpacho Andalou, Escargots Bourguigonne and Steak Tartare. Follow with Gnocchi with asparagus, fresh peas and pea shoot salad, Poached Landaise Chicken or Roast Sea bass. Desserts include favourites such as Tarte Tatin or Pot Au Chocolat. A carefully chosen wine list with many good value bottles complement this bistro gem.

Very good value prix fixe lunch, which was well cooked and unpretentious. Good selection of wines by glass and pot lyonnais.
