A warm, polite welcome awaited us and efficient service in a relaxed and spacious environment. Perfect for a pre theatre dinner, which is what we were doing.

At the Radisson Blu Hotel, the sleek Filini Restaurant in Birmingham serves up authentic Italian food in contemporary style. Restaurateur Roy Ackerman’s Collage concept sees classic pizza, pasta and risotto complemented by an exclusively Italian range of fine wines.

The Filini Restaurant menu includes antipasti platters great for sharing, packed with cured meats, cheese or mushrooms. Tempting mains include lemon scented seafood risotto, crab tagliatelle in soave cream sauce and tasty aubergine gnocchi.

Succulent meat dishes feature fillet of beef with speck di merino, pecorino and truffle sauce and braised lamb shank in red wine. Refreshing Italian desserts include chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream and Filini’s own tiramisu and homemade tarts.

Many Italian regions are covered by the broad Collage wine list, with excellent Tuscan and Sicilian choices. Also offering pre-theatre dining from its city centre location, Filini Restaurant is a 3-minute walk from Birmingham New Street Train Station.

It was an awful experience. The staff was not professional at all, from this kind of restaurant you expect to receive the service from.expert waiters instead there were 2 very young waiters without any experience at all and not able to do their job.
I went with my family in this restaurant, we pay a lot of money and it wasn't worth at all. I can only say that the food was good but that 's all.

We were looking for a quiet place to have a business dinner. This was accomplished and the ambiance was nice. Food was good as well.

Very limited choice on the menu, service was slow and staff clearly didn't want to be there.

It was very quiet when we arrived, as was expected for early in the first full week of January and a 6pm booking. We were the only ones there, the waiter was attentive but not intrusive. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink by the bar then at our table we ordered our meal. Soon a few other people arrived. The service was excellent the food good, the room is pleasant with plenty of room between tables. The window wall was covered by heavy netlike curtaining obscuring the view of the activity outside but there was a small gap by the table if you wished to see out, on a wet January night it was perfect. A good choice on the 'early evening' menu. My starter was a bread crumbed rice ball with a ragout which was very tasty, maybe a bit light on the cheese, followed by a main of Tuna, beautifully cooked and a dessert of lemon and thyme tart with a lemon granite. All was very well presented on the plate. Lovely..
