Excellent food and waiter's wine recommendations was spot on. Found the restaurant a bit chilly as the air conditioning was up too high and my only real critisism was that the toilets (ladies) could have been a bit cleaner.

We dined at 730 on Friday night. Although we arrived ten minutes early and were seated without fuss. Customer service is great, friendly, knowledgeable and when I asked how the rabbit was shot, this was found out promptly. Food was raved about by family, steak cooked perfectly and chips were bang on! If only others would take note! ( my venison could have been cooked less, but still tender and tasty!)With the ten pound voucher, we definitely will be back before end of January!

My dad booked a table for me and my husband on our anniversary - he also called the restaurant and pre-paid for our meal and ordered our first drinks. The restaurant were great at accommodating his requests and it was so nice when the waitress reeled off our drinks that she had obviously memorised from my dad's request, so she brought those without us needing to order! The staff were friendly without being overly attentive and were very knowledgable and confident about their menu. The food was really delicious and it was nice to have traditional hearty British dishes on the menu. This is somewhere you might go as a treat or on a special occasion as the prices are more than the average family restaurant, but the food and service reflect the prices overall, and you get good portions.

I visited Field to Fork on a Saturday night. I have been there several times, and usually enjoy the food and service. We sat at the front of the restaurant close to the bar. The waiter messed up my wife's drink order, which I sent back. He then complained about us to the bar man, even though we were sitting next to the bar. From that point onwards I knew the service was going to be bad. The waiter was being attentive to the tables around us, but was clearly avoiding our table. We ordered a starter followed by a main. When our mains came, we had to move the starter plates so the mains could be placed on the table. The food was placed on the table and the waiter disappeared. I ordered a burger and expected to be offered condiments, which I wasn't. I had to attract the attention of someone else, then had to wait 5 minutes for it to arrive. I ordered a glass of wine, which I didn't receive, then had to order it again. This time the waiter repeated my order to me, making me feel like I had speech problem. We decided to finish off with cheese and port. We were given the port, but there was no sign of the cheese. We slowly sipped the port, and when it was finished, cancelled the cheese order. My wife wasn't happy and complained. We were given free drinks, but I would have preferred to have had good service and pay for my drinks.
