Oozing with Parisian glamour from a bygone age, L’Etoile in London’s West End offers a real taste of vintage Paris. Plush red velvet chairs contrast with starched white tablecloths, and dozens of framed celebrity headshots adorn the walls, creating the impression of an old-school, charming Parisian cafe.

Immaculately-presented French cuisine comes with Italian influences at L’Etoile, with mains including pan-roast sea bream, olives and sautéed fennel with tomato and garlic potatoes and breast of guinea fowl, glazed with soy and honey.

With an excellent pre-theatre and lunch menu, L’Etoile at in Goodge Street is a buzzy venue with a delightful ambience that guarantees dining in London with a difference. Four private dining salons are available to hire at L’Etoile in London.

Classic brasserie dining with bags of Parisian charm, L’Etoile in London sits just a 3-minute walk from Goodge Street Tube Station.

We had a very good meal, fairly priced and sensible size portions. We liked the decor and the staff were very friendly and pleasant. It would have been nice if we could have been sat on our own rather than right next to another occupied table, when the restaurant was nearly empty mid-afternoon. The couple next to us were very loud and intrusive and eventually we asked them to move or speak more quietly, which they did.

Was a good night considering it was Valentines Night and I expected it to be absolutely packed. The space between tables was really generous given how busy a night it was.

In terms of the food, which we had to pick from the set menu was average, the starter (I ordered Mushroom Soup) was palatable but only just, for my main I had swordfish and that was lovely. The desert was a bit hit and miss as well.

Overall it was average and ok but nothing special to rave.

Service was first class. Food excellent: fish cakes very tasty; creme brulee good. First visit, but will be looking to go again. Lunch companion was equally impressed.

Great service, the staff were friendly & kind throughout.
Had the NYE set menu for 2 - great price. Most of the dishes were tasty, apart from the polenta cake which was a bit bland & left an unpleasant aftertaste. The chocolate fondant with basil ice cream was a particular highlight!

From the outside, L'Etoile looks like a pleasant French bistro. However, on the other side of its doors, the reality is very different. A luke warm reception awaited us. We were seen to our table, given glasses of presecco (as part of our xmas set menu) and that was it. No-one asked us if we wanted something else to drink. Then there's the food which was overlooked, dry and uninspiring. Only the compère seemed to have any charm or sense of customer service about him as the rest of the staff shifted around the restaurant and just didn't make us fee welcome.

Ultimately, I just wasn't impressed with a restaurant that prides itself on heritage. The service, good and ambience were all severely lacking. When we left, they gave us or coats having had to hunt for them in the cloakroom because they're unable to give you a token for your belongings for some reason. We were then left to leave without so much as a "thank you", "merry Christmas" or "goodbye". Awful experience. I will not be going back ever.

Service was excellent - we were appropriately and professionally attended. Food was fantastic - my group spoke very highly of it. Atmosphere was great for a nice Christmas party.

The food was very very average. The Christmas menu was definitely not worth it. The prawn cocktail starter looks like the one from Sainsbury with some lettuce on a plate. The only good thing is that the waiter was willing to change the dish because my friend left all of it. The turkey meal was so plain and the stuffing was a tiny ball on the plate I had to ask the waiter where it was. When I asked for more gravy he came over with the gravy boat just poured a little over all our dishes and then walked away with it which was rather odd. Dessert was also underwhelming which again could have been obtained from Sainsbury. And for all of that it cost £60 each with a half bottle of wine between 3 - not entirely sure how they justify £40 for that Christmas menu!
