Occupying a scenic spot next to Sydenham Woods in Dulwich, Dulwich Wood House is a quintessentially British Young’s pub and restaurant. Refined yet robust British classics are served in a classy gastro-pub setting, with al fresco dining on the pretty and expansive patio area.

Lamb breast croquette with herby yoghurt and dill gherkin can be followed on the Wood House menu by British favourites like London bangers with colcannon, caramelised onion and ale gravy, and sticky bourbon Dingley Dell pork ribs with root vegetable slaw and triple-cooked chips. Deli and butcher’s sharing boards include Wiltshire ham and focaccia bread for sociable dining, while a rhubarb crumble for dessert comes with ‘Jude’s’ homemade vanilla ice cream.

Dulwich Wood House’s wines are specially selected by esteemed wine merchants Cockburn and Campbell, and number over 40 eclectic options from around the globe. They are joined by craft beers and award-winning ales in this elegant yet informal pub.

Rustic wood flooring and a glorious mahogany bar complete the Dulwich Wood House interior. It can be found on the Green Chain walk between Crystal Palace Park and Dulwich Park in London.

Nice restaurant and food but it was virtually empty and totally lacking in atmosphere.

The Wood House seems to be more expensive than other pubs in the area and the place is full of small children. I've nothing against children, but I do object to the parents who let them run around. The food was okay.

First time visiting since the refit and very nicely done up inside. Father's Day visit so expected it to be busy as we had been informed that they were fully booked. That said there was very few tables taken (perhaps as it was a nice day and some people moved outside) and on asking if we could move outside they said we could, but wouldn't be able to order from the main menu - just bbq or the burger shack. Lovely waitress (new) but I have a few absolute no goes for a restaurant. Firstly, don't take away plates before we're all finished, poor mum felt like she had to rush her meal. Secondly don't say you're kid friendly but offer zero but a menu for kids. Large outdoor area but nothing for children, nothing offered at all for kids. The menu was ok, the food was average - veggies needed a saw and the meat quantity for the value was poor. Loved the crumble though. Thirdly, come and ask if we would like more drinks. Lovely set up in there, just needs a few tweaks.

Went for dinner with a friend last night and had a lovely time. The service was excellent, as was the food (which was reasonably priced and what you'd expect for a gastro pub) and the restaurant itself is informal and comfortable, not or pretentious all. I'd recommend the fishcake! The beer garden is superb and would def go back just to sit in one of their huts! I think this is going to become one of my regular haunts.

Service was extremely slow despite us being some of the only people inside the restaurant, we waited 25 minutes for our first round of drinks and were told the bar was busy in excuse.. The food was very hit and miss despite having really enjoyed good food and service there in the past. The stuffed Belly Pork that my father ordered was in fact a pork chop with none of the appeal that the described dish had, my son had a root vegetable pie which was nice enough but served with the roast veg and potatoes of the roast dishes rather than with the mashed potato it was advertised as coming with. My daughters child's portion of macaroni cheese was quite the smallest child's portion I have ever seen and I was surprised as we left to see a toddler with a plate of the same dish 3 times as big - clearly an issue with consistency. We did complain and to their credit the manager did take off the cost of two meals but there was never any sense of an explanation for why the dishes were not served as described on the menu. It is a small menu so you would think they would know the dishes inside out! For dessert my daughter had the crumble and custard - which arrived with ice-cream and no custard. By that point we had given up complaining, we just shan't be going back, a shame as it had been a family favourite over a number of years. Poor staff and they clearly need a new team in the kitchen.

Lovely surroundings and ambience. Was disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options - only 2 choices and one of those was off! Choice of salad or cheese sandwich. Meat eaters were happy however and enjoyed their meals .

The Dulwich Woodhouse refurbishment is lovely. The new conservatory dining room is laid out beautifully around a modern open fire place. Lovely touch with frsh flowers on each table. I was visiting with my 86 yr old Dad and the friendliness and service from staff was very welcoming. Can highly recommend the cod and chips and the 6hr cooked featherblade beef dish. Delish. It was too wet and cold to sit in garden but loved the new huts!
